That would be cool, Georgia!

I've gotten the name of the event organizer for Borders in my area.
Now to find time and confidence to call him and add my vote for him to
invite Neil. Of course, the crowd Neil drew at the National Book
Festival should help my case considerably....

/* HEY NEIL -- While it's in the planning stages, please do make sure
this tour has enough recovery time built in between gigs. Remember
the _Endless Nights_ tour; we don't want them bringing you home in a
dustpan again. */

=#=
The bid has passed 3,000 USD. I'm impressed. I do hope for a good name
since it's my guess people who know will be looking for it.
=#=

This is why I don't even bother with CBLDF auctions. It's usually
safe to say others will take much better care of them than I could.

Naming a boat for a mere $3,533.00 would have been a bargain - if I
could have figured out a name that was worth spending $3,533.00 on.

Georgia, if you fly to NYC I'm sure that some of us could arrange to
meet you for a lovely dinner.

For that money, I could buy and name my own dang boat. ;)

Glad you're home safe, Neil. And I cannot resist congratulating Maddy
on writing a story that got her to go to that Young Author's event.

Just got a message from the HarperCollins AuthorTracker newsletter
(http://www.harpercollins.com/global_scripts/product_catalog/author_xml.asp?aut
horid=3417#tracker)
with a link to a sneak peek of _Anansi Boys_. Thank you, whosever
idea that was! :D

eek, it's been quiet around here. I've been barely online for the past
week and I've had no difficulty catching up here - that's unusual.

I have no clue what I'd name the ship, although calling it the SS
Thing e is silly enough to make me smile (though I doubt my cat would
get it).

Hooray for sneak peaks!

In other news, is anyone else finding themselves possessed of the need
to write weasel haiku?

Okay, I finally had a chance to actually read that bit of Anansi Boys,
and now I'm upset because I have to wait for the rest of it.

But then, I had the same feeling when I saw a bit of MirrorMask and I
haven't died from having to wait for that either.

grrr.

I hate waiting.

I'm not going to read the Anansi bit. I saw the video of Mr. Gaiman's
reading and it was enough to send me to amazon and pre-order. Any more
and I'll be sick with the antici................pation.
One day I'll stop doing the Rocky Horror thing. Just not today.

Tiny - That's how bad I want to see Mirrormask - will make the detour
for it. Mr. McKean's work has always had a special significance to me.
Which is a fancy way of saying I think he's really, really cool.

Notshakespeare - keeper of the *eww* rodent gravy - A meet up would
both rock and roll. Sushi in the city. If only my bodily parts will
behave. Seriously - I'll give a heads up, most likely on LJ, as soon as
I know. Which depends on me finding out about release dates and such.
This fan stuff is hard work.

Miss Mousey - I see your Grrr. and I raise you a Argh!
I hate waiting too.

Um, MiniCon was waaaay cool. PTerry Pratchett is such a nice man.
And funny? Oy.

And Ask Dr. Mike is a HOOT. Never miss one of those if you can help
it.

And Elise makes Pirate hair Jewelry. You have to say Aaaaaarrrrhhh
when you buy it.

You can spend your whole paycheck at the Dreamhaven booth. i know
'cause I tried.

I missed the cuter of the Gaiman writers--her bedtime had apparently
come by the time I got down to the dance, where the Fabulousest
Lorraine ever was throwing down.

Way fun, even though I was sick as a dog, and still am.

Gotta dash.

Mary

*The* Terry Pratchett?! *Discworld* Pratchett?

Mary, I hope you feel better soon. Honest.

Me? I'll just go and paddle in the endless emerald green sea of envy
for a while.

I missed Terry Pratchett. Rats with bows!

And it was in Minneapolis. Apparently if the Neilster had been in
town, he might have hung out.

I am not much better, but thank you for the thoughts. Whatever form
of beri-beri I have is heinous. I strongly advise avoiding it.

Thank God I called Monday morning for tix to the U of C reading. All
200 seats have already sold out. I wish they'd move it to a larger
venue......

Ow. That made me cough.

Well, apparently breathing makes me cough, but still......

Neil was right about Kung Fu Hustle. Caught a sneak preview of it
here last night, and it's hilarious.
