Kathy writes from off-Well:

Mary, just double-checking, but I assume you've read Sayers's Lord Peter
Wimsey series? :)

Slightly off-topic notes, but Diane Duane has just announced on her blog
that she's going to go ahead with THE BIG MEOW. Serially. Via Paypal
donation. This is gonna get very interesting. If you have never read Diane
Duane, and you like YA fantasy, go pick up a copy of SO YOU WANT TO BE A
WIZARD. She and her husband, Peter Morwood, also did the screenplay for the
upcoming Ring of the Niebelung/DRAGON KING miniseries on Sci-Fi Channel.

And next week, starting Tuesday, BBC's Radio 4 is airing a four-part
adapation of Terry Pratchett's SMALL GODS. Same guys who did MORT last year.
Should be fun. You can listen to it from the website over streaming Real
Audio for up to a week after it's aired.

Got my copy of the Mirrormask DVD yesterday. Played it for two friends who
hadn't seen it yet, and who both loved it. I am looking forward to the
special features, bwahaha.

I wait breathlessly for my copy of Mirrormask. Now I know it's out. I
just sit here and sing na-ni-na-ni-na-ni till it comes.

Mmm... MirrorMask. When we got it we made a friend of ours come over
and watch it with us - it was her favourite movie of last year. It was
the first time we ever watched a movie at our house for any sort of
"movie night" that actually required use of the "again" button (that's
the "back to beginning of track" button, for those not saavy to movie
night silliness) - naturally for the transformation scene.

Again! Again! hee hee

I think that was one of my favouritest parts of the script. Just
listening to Helena say nasty things to the book, it reminded me of a
bunch of garbage I've had to read. *sigh* Good times, good times.
Right, back to sewing a baby Cthulhu hoodie...

Dan - That IS great. Your kids are so cute.

"I think God made you so that you could buy me all the movies that I want."
-- Xander Fowlkes, 4-year-old philosopher, to his mother

<1243> - Then again, Squeaks, you are also one of the few people who detest
chocolate. Guess you just don't have a sweet tooth! (And KK's name alone
makes me think of sugar and grease; there are much more substantial
doughnuts out there.)

I'm holding out for my birthday to get the _MirrorMask_ DVD, but I just
started reading the big giant script book I got for Christmas. I rather
liked Neil's original story concept in the e-mail exchange at the back.

I got a nice note from Bill Stiteler the week before last, acknowledging
something I'd sent to Neil. That's pretty cool that Neil's having someone
help out answering mail (I wasn't expecting to hear anything back), and I'm
sure Lorraine is grateful for the hand. Bill seems cool and funny.

I just found out last week that Eric Lowen of the singer/songwriting team
Lowen & Navarro (http://www.lownav.com) has ALS. I am grieving really hard.

The hoodie is baby-sized, green fleece, and on Halloween it will be
complete with tentacles and eyes on the hood, as well as claw-gloves
and wings (though the costumey bits will not be added until October).
Someone remind me to take photos in October and I'll post them
somewhere.

Danes did well in Stage Beauty, which I enjoyed well enough. Worth
watching once, not sure if I liked it well enough to watch again
though. Actors were wonderful, but the script was merely good. I
imagine she'll be great in Stardust, but then I'm biased. :)

Christy - has nothing to do with a lack of sweet tooth (as can be seen
by the amounts of sugary things I consume, particularly of the gummy
variety), just chocolate and bready sweets I guess.

hello?~
Did any of you read Neil's article in "Wired" (7/05) called "Keeping it
(Un)Real" ? He meets the Gorillaz.
My daughter passed along the magazine to me, as my kids help keep me
informed of Neil things. As do you, er, when you post...
(I know it has been a couple years since I have,
but...) pattie clarkson

My error in pasting: pattie was asking whether anyone was going to Toronto
next week, I believe.

Apologies.

Balticon. Or, more accurately, I will be vaguely north of Baltimore.

Wow. 4 whole posts. Have been a bit disappointed lately that nobody is
here. Was afraid that finally the NG topics would quietly slip away.

The comment on the hotels juice of the day: avocado with lime and
skimmed milk - was hilarious.

I sent to a pal who has been home after a surgery to cheer her up.

Sorry, folks. I keep trying to find an e-mail account that will allow me
to send to well.com; let's hope this new one works.

The message I've been trying to send for about two weeks said:

Hm. The McClouds thought of "brilliant" and "thingy," but they didn't
think of "astonishing"? ;)

New stuff:
Robots are cool.

Patricia! I was just thinking about you! How are you??

I read the Gorillaz article! The magazine was on the table at my massage
therapist's back in July, and they let me borrow it. Did you see them
"perform" on the Grammys?

Speaking of performing, I am happy to report that the aforementioned Eric
Lowen <1264> can still kick more butt than most people with full use of
their legs would know what to do with. <grins like a fool> I saw L&N at
the Birchmere on 3/18, and -- well, it's probably weird when the one
you're grieving over is one of the ones to cheer you up, but these guys
are JUST. THAT. FRIGGIN'. MAGIC. If you get a chance to see them, I
highly recommend it, especially if you're in the L.A. area. I might add
that they are very Neil-like in the way they know how to give and receive
love from their fans.  (Or perhaps, Neil is very Lowen-&-Navarro-like;
after all, I was a fan of theirs about a decade before I ever heard of
the astonishingly brilliant thingy.)

(And if you want to help the guy out with the health-related stuff, you
can donate via PayPal to ericlowentrust@lownav.com. And there's always
the ALS association at http://www.alsa.org.)

I wasn't quite sure how to get the conversation going again-it was
between mentioning the article or relating a dream that I had the
weekend after the last presidential election... Neil, strawberry
'Now-and-Laters', feet and Meredith Baxter (Birney). Really!
(It must have been sparked by the high of watching Neil on 13 Nights of
Fright coupled with the low of political insanity...)

Christy-beware of what you ask! I am fine, though my life is crazy... a
woman went left of center and wrecked into my car mirror on Monday
afternoon. It could have been much worse, but she swerved back. I was
on my way to my sister's house as she had slipped on her dog's ball, fell
and broken her foot. My husband was on his way to Miami. And, since my
daughter was home for a short visit, relatives were to come by that eve.
for dessert... How are you?

My son is planning to attend the convention in Toronto, and may drive
over to Pitts. this coming weekend. Have fun at
Balticon.................pc

Yay, it worked! And I've finally succumbed and gotten a
free, non-work e-mail account. Maybe now I'll really see
what all the complaining over spam is about.

Yeah, Balticon! I'm hoping to sign up as soon as I get some money
and personal computer time.

That entry about the avocado "juice" _was_ funny! I could hear
Neil's voice as I read it. So does this make Neil "the Englishman
with the lime juice"?

Hope your friend recovers quickly, Dodge.

Addendum to previous comment:
Robots are cool.
Transformers are cooler.

Night-night.
