DanGuy--I'd suggest Land of the Lost, but since it's warped me
totally, perhaps not. I just got through watching all 3 seasons on
DVD, and I hadn't seen it since it ran originally. It was.........
awful. I mean wretched. Appalling. Bad. I loved every minute of it.

I now officially have a Guilty Pleasure. Jackie Chan movies don't
count 'coz he's a genius. (Acting-snob friends of mine would dispute
that, but even they must stand in awe of the stunts.)

Mary (reading The DaVinci Code...I know, I know)

Every year I watch the original broadcast of Land of the Lost I
realized the show was worse then I remembered.

Not to mention internally inconsistent.

They made THREE seasons of that show? Ugh. (cringe)

And here people I know are bitching to me because I want to watch
every episode of Babylon 5 from start to finish. Clearly they don't
know bad when they've seen it. :)

Right, back to the sewing machine.

Yeah, B5 is hardly the worst SF on TV. (There's a whole conference
here on the well for science fiction on tv: <sftv.>.)

I am tres amusee that my guilty pleasure has sparked such a delightful
discussion. I've never watched B5, and you interest me strangely.

You will all be pleased to know that the series I'm watching now is a
vast improvement (at least writing-wise). I'm finally picking up Red
Dwarf on DVD, and watching it with the cast commentaries, which are
pretty darn funny.

But I'm still reading Dan Brown (Angels and Demons)

P.S. Hey--I'm moving Monday, and I still don't know where to, so I
need a little stress relief ;-)

In the original Land of the Lost (1974-1977) they got caught on a
rafting trip.

The remake (1991-1992) (which does not list Patrick Duffy as an actor)
had a new group of stranded people who manage to keep their jeep
running.

I only saw an episode or two of the remake, but I remember them
*using* the jeep, as if it still had gas.

Was reading over some old Neil Gaiman posts and came across the one
where he got a Blackberry and took it out of the box, gazed at it and
put it back away.

My boss is one of those people who yen after new technology but our
department won't buy new stuff unless the old stuff is broke. Having
figured this out many years ago, he has the highest breakage record of
anybody in the department. I haven't decided yet if he does it on
purpose - which I doubt because of his personality - or if it's a
subconscious thing which is more likely. Anyway, not too long ago, he
started wanting a Blackberry. Everybody he saw at conventions has
them. Would be so convenient for getting emails as well as phone
calls. Want. And, lo, his phone started getting staticky so bad you
could barely hear anything on it. Don't ask me how he managed that
one. So, I put together a convincing argument for spending $300+
instead of $100 or so and got him a Blackberry. Guess who has to set
up his phones etc when they come in?

After setting it up and testing it a bit, I have decided that nothing
in this world will tempt me to ever buy one. It's a real pain to use.
I have a simple simple phone. All it does is send and take calls and
have voicemail and sometimes if I want, it can text message and receive
text messages. Maybe one day I'll get one that can take pictures.

A phone should be a phone. A computer should be a computer. And when
you shrink them so small they can't be used easily, they are useless.

I am a totally non gadget-loving guy in a gadget-loving industry (IT).
I don't even like having a cell phone, let alone a Blackberry.

Patricia -- Hope your sister's feeling better. And sorry you got
sideswiped! It sounds as though the woman was driving with one hand,
and your mirror rudely interrupted her phone call. ;-p I'm glad it
wasn't worse, though; last year, a woman turned left into me and
totaled my car! (Terribly nice lady, though.)

I have two friends who are trying to get me hooked on B5. I've seen
the first season so far.

Mary -- Where'd you move to?

Just got my registration confirmation for Balticon. How many of you
will I see there?

...And how many of us will need to take turns propping Neil up after
he hauls his jet-lagged brain straight from Australia?

I will be at Balticon, and I know <dfowlkes> will be. I don't think
the rest of this lot are though - although we'd be pleased to see them.

Where is it? I rarely get to go anywhere to see Neil. The one and only
time he came to the south, was during Rita and I couldn't get gas in
Houston to go to Austin to see him.
