hard question.  It is about dogs and which breeds are going to be
fashionable next and for how long, so people can plan their outfits.

ever take anyone's advice about how to Sell More Books?  And if people
*give* you advice ("Hype the nude dancing"), do you take it?

Actually I am taking suggestions for what the next book should be
about, although when I say taking I mean taking under consideration.

Also, would it be wrong to kidnap the blue and gold macaw I heard about
this morning who is obviously lonely and has been for 12 years?  What
do you *think* it means that all the bird says is "C'mere" and "Pretty
bird"?

I witnessed sumac talking to animals with my very own eyes today. I saw a
parrot fall in love with her. It was moving.
  

    

I heard that.  Every time Sumac made a sound, the parrot replied.

Really?  I thought it was "I love you!".
  

    
Well, maybe some combination: "Quit having fun out there and get back
in here and talk to me!  Start with the part about Pretty Bird."

I'm laughing my ass off, and learning a lot at the same time. Which
teaching method(s) did you employ in writing your book, <sumac>? I
don't recall use of humor....
  

    
Hmm.  To the extent I have a method, it's: narrative.  Illustrating
stuff with stories.  People like narrative, & people remember narrative
better than explanation.

Note that "narrative" is just a classy word for "anecdote."
  

    


Sumac, don't you think it would be nice if you *were* to use a little humor?
I mean, there's nothing *wrong* with a little joke, is there?  Why did you
have to so, oh, you know, dull?

It occurs to me now that my post was unclear. I meant that I did not
recall use of humor as a teaching method described in the book. And yet
from reading Becoming a Tiger, it's clearly one of the best.
  

    
Did I mention that my copy of this terribly unfunny book is bound
upside down?  I hesitate to mention it because I kind of like the idea
that it's a deliberate learning test.
  

    

Well, if you take the paper cover off and put the paper cover on upside
down, then the book will be bound right side up!
  

    
Upside down?  That is not right.  Surely you can demand that the
bookstore replace it.

Of course I could also provide an upside-down autograph for you,
