Iowa -- you gotta go to at least Dubuque, which is very nice.

This tour had no time for anything but getting there, playing, and getting on
to the next gig. I didn't see much of Ames, let alone any other towns.

I used to every summer play with a string band at the Mill in Iowa
City back in the late 70's up until 1980. Great audience, good beer
on tap. The green room was full of posters of familiar acoustic acts
from previous shows, and lots of familiar signatures on the wall
(which was tan, not green!)

I am playing another gig in Iowa at the end of June: The Bunker Mill Bridge
in Kalona. Benefit for restoration/preservation of the bridge.

David, do you do all your own booking, or does somebody arrange your
tours for you?

Mostly I do it myself. When I tour with the Rumpke Mountain Boys, their
booker handles things.

Any adventures on the booking and planning side that you are free to
tell about? I know that can be an adventure, too, and I was just
wondering if you have a place you are telling that part of the
story.

Oh, what a tedious tale that would be!

I am starting to be approached by various venues, inviting me to play, which
is really nice.

I get a lot of gigs by posting on Facebook, e.g. "Looking for a house concert
or other opportunity in the _____ area on these dates." That has gotten some
good results.

There's a catch-22 in this biz. In order to get the good gigs, you need a
booking agent with clout. But booking agents won't take you on til you're
getting good gigs.
