I got me a nice blurb for my new CD: "As one of our leading authorities on the Grateful Dead, David Gans has long enlightened us on the history of that band. And in his own music, it's mightily clear he's taken valuable lessons from them: a love of improv, a deep respect for American vernacular music from folk to jazz, a loose-limbed joy in making music, and damn good taste in covers. Drop the Bone will move you, brightly." - David Browne, contributing editor, Rolling Stone v <http://cloudsurfing.gdhour.com/archives/10205> for more info/ordering

Very nice. I wish I could find people around here who want to do this with Dead music. You know, make it into something else. I've been playing recently with a guitarist who thinks the way to play Dead songs is to watch videos and figure out exactly what Jerry is doing and then try to do it. Next thing you know he'll cut off his finger.

I don't look at my screen while I'm playing, but Rita keeps an eye on the feed and let me know I had 50+ viewers yesterday. I've had more than that, and I've had fewer than that. I've been making radio for more than 30 years, and so I am used to addressing invisible/imaginary audiences. I much prefer performing for real people, but I can do this. I'm collecting a few bucks in direct contributions each time, and I've made a handful of sales in my new online store <http://perfectible.net>
