drinking and betting and watching games: the lifeblood of the guy
since he grew up in the home of the Kentucky Derby..it was
hard-wired into his DNA from when he was knee-high to a grasshopper

I was notified today that my WELL account is coming to an end. It​
all started with the Inkwell session about my Ramparts magazine book​
in 2009. I've checked in almost daily ever since. Thank you for​
years of interesting exchanges here and elsewhere on the WELL. 

One last announcement: My book about the first decade of Rolling​
Stone magazine will be out in Spring 2026 from the University of​
California Press. It's called Brand New Beat. Some of you helped me​
conceptualize and execute it. I hope many of you will seek it out​
and enjoy it.
