One more, if there's time: From: "Chad and Rebecca Johnson" <samjohn@flash.net> Subject: re: Nick Bantock Date: Sun, 16 Apr 2000 10:02:55 -0500 I don't know if you can still ask him a question. I just found the interview. (too late of course) But I wanted to know about the book Magic Carpets, which is listed on Amazon.com and BN.com and was supposed to be released in December. Was that just an alternative title for The Museum at Purgatory? I am working on building a website about Bantock and would like to have correct information to post... plus i need to know for my own interest and collection purposes. Rebecca Johnson

A late PS Rebecca No such book as Magic Carpets (tried getting Amazon to subtract it but the machine grinds torcherous slow). It is however a chapter from The Museum at Purgatory. If you're doing a site, why don't you contact Sandy at www.fan-dango.com she'll help you with any info, and link you up with the main sight. Nick

I lurked for this all-too-short interview, and want to thank both the lovely, lively Linda Castellani, and the fascinating Nick Bantock. Nick's comments and insights about art and literature inspire, and are currently serving as a muse. Also, thanks to whoever brainstorms about these authors and interviews. What a great addition to our Well conferences. Makes me proud to be a member of the Well.

Hello...I am relatively new to the whole WELL experience...but here I am finding all these wonderful topics! I discovered Nick's work my junior year of high school, and have since been absolutely enthralled by his beautiful, inspiring artwork and his equally beautiful stories. (the Venecian's Wife- oh that's interesting spelling on my part- made me cry every time I read it) I am just introducing my roomates to the Gryphon and Sabine series- and they are enchanted. I also just found out that The Forgetting Room is out of print (I've been out of the loop for a while) and I was wondering if anyone here knows where I can find a nice used copy or something? I know the Strand in NYC has the Gryphon and Sabine series, but I don't think the carry any more of Mr. Bantock's work... Kristina, the Little Orange Flower Faerie

Kristina, you might be able to find a used copy if you do a search for it at amazon.com.

Thanks Linda! (who I recognize from the Neil Gaimen site) I found a great used copy on Amazon for $4! And it ships from NJ which means little NYC me will be getting it very soon. ^_^ I don't know why I didn't think of Amazon earlier- I shop there every week! I also look forward to getting the latest 2 Gryphon & Sabine installments next week. I love rediscovering authors who I know I love and sharing them. Thanks also for the warm wellcome. ^_~ Kristina, who needs to start illustrating her own little poem about annoying buggies...

EEEEEE! I just got Forgetting Room and am VERY excited to read it again. And then sit my roomie down with it. ^_~ The only thing I enjoy more than reading great books is making other people read them and discover how great they are. Kinda like reading them vicariously for the first time again. BTW- I apologize for being so out of the loop and not doing my homework, but are there any new Bantok masterpieces on the horizon?
