Ooh, no, answer here, I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in
hearing.

In fact, it raises another question - the whole conflict between
wanting to get your name out there, raise awareness of SD, but not give
the store away.  What conversations have you guys had about this?
  

    
Since some of our work has a short self-life, we're all for getting it out
there.  If our CD's end up in the newsgroups or on Napster we'd take that as
a good sign at the moment.

I admit to useing photocopy machines instead of buying every piece of paper
that I want to read so I don't think I'm a good source to ask about the re-
use of copywritten materials. I do think that it is interesting that music
and video are causing us to rethink the wild west attitude on the 'net when
graphics and text have been being reused freely for years. It probably says
something about what we think has actual value.
  

    
I see the conversation has generated some interesting comments.  Been
out of pocket, busy getting my visa for Canada, regardless of who wins.
 Angie, that's a good question about how we figure out what topics are
good for songs.  As Alan T. said, we deal with that issue often. 
Generally were are uncomfortable with trying generate humor out of
tragic situations, especially where these has been loss of life.  We're
also uncomfortable with off-color humor.  That's not to say we don't
tackle subjects related to things like sex.  However, I like to think
we handle such subjects cleverly and humorously enough so that we can
present them to almost any audience.

As to getting our material out there, I agree with Alan T. that right
now it's preferable to provide recent topical songs free on our website
as a means of publicizing ourselves.  I figure if we can show up often
enough with topical material that people like, eventually our name
will catch on.  I'd rather we share our songs on the net for free than
have them become old news without a chance for a public airing.

Alan, I'm so glad that you showed up for one last post before we have to
say goodbye.  I loved having you and I thank you for making me laugh, both
of youse Alans, and Angie, thanks for such great questions.

Hey, thanks for having us.  It's been great meeting everyone.  I
haven't been asked this many questions since my wife brought me home to
meet her mother for the first time.  And these questions were a whole
lot more pleasant.  We're working away furiously on new stuf as we

a great performer, I sometimes forget what an amazing radio guy you are.

sorry to say we didn't have extra studio time for them as predicted.
we will be debuting a few new numbers at the sold out NYE show tomorrow
night. hope to get them recorded soon.

We are excited to report we'll soon be making our New York debut!  We will
be performing at the Triad Theatre, 158 W.72nd Street (near Broadway) on
Monday, March 19, at 8:30 p.m. The Triad is one of the larger
theatre/cabaret venues in the city.  It was the birthplace of the long
running N.Y. show "Forbidden Broadway."  If you know anyone in the N.Y.

ny theater festival in july is a good shot, too.
we've talked to the producer and he likes the cd.
9 venues over a two week period!

new material and cast changes are in place but the up front funding for a cd
is not there just now. It won't be too much longer though. By late spring I
hope.
