Seasonal Total (to May 8, 1999): |
81.5 Inches |
The weekend of February 6th and 7th brought over 8" of rain, and was followed by freezing temperatures and snow on Tuesday the 9th. It appears that the 1998/1999 season will be slightly above average, and less than the previous three years. But a wet one, for sure. A surprise snowfall occured on March 31st, with record cold temperatures (a low of 27 degrees (F) that morning). Another surprise snow on April 8, while we were gone to Kaua'i, and what appears to be the end of the rainy season on May 3rd with just .2". While we might get another rainstorm, it has slowed down now and will likely be dry until October or November.
Just for comparison, the following is a sample table of some of the rainfall totals for the 1996/1997 season:
October 1996 | Total: 5.0" |
---|---|
November 1996 | Total: 13.9" |
December 1996 | Total: 27.8" |
January 1997 | Total: 22.8" |
Needless to say, it rains in buckets when it rains.....
