Given its placement near the beginning of the key-search game icon, Caydance was not surprised that the key was not in the jaws of the beast on which the archer was mounted. That would be too easy.

She had journeyed across the bridge to Berkeley to confirm that the key to the book object was not anywhere on The Guardian or in its vicinity. She could not be sure that the key was not buried in the ground, or somewhere on the sculpture that was too high to reach, or even mounted under the fishermen and fish occupied Berkeley Pier. Within her capacity to search on that day, the key was not there. However, the possibility existed that the rest of the game was a wild goose chase, and the key was hidden somewhere in the vicinity of The Guardian.
