Her next class would begin with study and discussion of formally published artists books that emerged from or reflected the culture of informal DIY publications on which the students were now working. The intent was not to impose formal publication on creative practice but rather to suggest that that was an option that could at some point be considered. She was familiar with the books that she had packed to take to Griff's beach house, but while he was studying for his Civil Procedure class, she would spend time with each book, considering what questions and approaches it might suggest.

"The title alludes to an existing dichotomy between public and personal significance and so far as the meaning of the public image ultimately depends on the context in which it is presented," Peter and Antonio wrote to introduce the book.
