In the
California September afternoon sun, aided by the memory of the sound of Griff repeating her name, as well as by pita bread-housed Greek salad with olives and feta and a split of Cabernet Sauvignon (secreted in a hidden pocket of her picnic basket), Caydance succumbed to a dreamy 3rd quarter -- marked early by a SJSU fumble at the 3-yard line. As the third quarter ended, once again Stanford stopped San Jose State at the end zone.
In the 4th quarter, Stanford fullback Brad Muster finished a 75-yard Stanford drive in the end zone, and Stanford defensive back Brad Humphreys ran back an interception.
The final score was Stanford 28 - San Jose State 10.
Amidst the bedlam of fans, extras. and cameramen, Jack Elway headed across the field to shake hands with the opposing coach.
Griff seized the opportunity.
