Australia 2015
Mornings at our Palm Cove rental start with stunning sunrises.
Once sunlight hits the front yard, nectar eaters flock to the flowering
plants there. These are helmeted friarbirds.
A tiny male olive-backed sunbird (the deep blue at its throat is only on the
males, the females are all yellow on the underside) enjoys feeding in
the light of daybreak.
Lorikeets arrive in a noisy rush, scramble all over the yellow blossoms,
then dash off for their next snack, gabbling wildly as they fly away.
