Australia 2015

We check out of our stone cottage in the valley and move a few miles up the road to a ridgetop rental at a banana farm.

One of the features of this vacation rental is the beautiful outdoor tub.

The magpies on the banana farm are totally used to people. They greet us every day shortly after dawn, eager to extract a leftover prawn or some other delicacy from us.

This butcherbird lives on insects and small vertibrates. It secures its captured prey by impaling it on a thorn or wedging it into a tree fork or crevice to hold it in place while eating it.
