Utah, Spring 2010: The Toadstools
The Toadstools have no signage pointing to them. You have to find them through hiking guides and by looking for the unmarked pull-out on the road. Like hoodoos, toadstools are formed through a process of erosion. The 'caps' on the toadstools are made of a sedimentary layer of soil that's harder than the layer below, so the toadstool 'stems' are protected from erosion by rain. Eventually the wind eats the stems, leaving only the cap.
