The "dirt hotel" moonscape that currently occupies most of the Brickyard.

With much better pedestrian, bicycle and public transit access than the Albany Plateau, and almost as much space, the Brickyard could be a better location for playing fields.

On the other hand, once the topsoil storage operation is gone and the land is left alone for a few years, it will develop habitat value equal to that of the Berkeley Meadow or Albany Plateau.

The Preliminary General Plan for the Eastshore State Park calls for a grassy picnic area.
