Basement Bedroom and Bath

As you come down the basement stairs, this is the room directly to your left. It could be used as a fifth (big) bedroom, as it has its own full bath (straight back) and a good-sized closet (towards the bathroom, on the right and out of the frame.) The hardwood floors are a different, slightly darker and less consistently coloured wood than the maple on the main floor, but every bit as nice. This room will probably end up being Tim's office.

This photo was taken looking back from the right hand corner of the room. Just out of the frame to the left are the french doors. In the far corner is a little triangular bench. I love the different ledge levels in this room. As you might be able to see by the window, this is a walkout basement. This means that the basement is on ground level, rather than being underground. There are double doors on the other side where you can actually walk directly out to the backyard. The great advantage to this is that you can have standard windows and all kinds of light -- you don't have the feeling of being down in a basement at all.

The basement bathroom. The shower is done in the same tile as the sink, and is full-size. Once again, the light fixture is in that same aged iron metal. Check out the carved rope design running around the edge of the counter -- too cool! Once again, this bathroom is also done with the maple cabinets and drawers of the first two floors. Gee, who could that be in the mirror?
