Kitchen![]() The kitchen includes extra tall maple cabinets, beautiful countertop tile, an eat-in nook facing a window, and two islands! As you'll see later, the family room is actually kind of an extension of the kitchen, so the two are totally open to each other. The cook can still be part of the party! The sliding doors to the deck are off of the nook -- just beyond the right side of the photo. ![]() All the appliances are that modern brushed stainless steel look, which actually looks really cool mixed in with all the wood and tile. We negotiated for the refridgerator in our offer since it matched everything else so well. The oven controls are all digital and look a bit daunting to my dial-trained eyes, but I'm sure we'll learn. The closest island has a veggie sink with a disposal (the owners assure us that this is great for quick transfer from fridge to sink), and the second island has the range. It's gas (hallelujah!) with two burners on one side and a gas-powered grill on the other. In the background, you can see bits of the family room. You'll notice too that all the lighting is recessed and placed to ensure that there's always light on all the workspaces. ![]() This view is looking back towards the eat-in nook from the family room side of the kitchen. You can see that this side of the second island is built so that it could also double as an informal breakfast bar. The doorway towards the back on the right leads into a walk-in pantry.
This is a close up of the beautiful tile throughout the kitchen, including the backsplash. The same tile is used on all the counters and on both islands. Look, Mom! It's GREEN!
