Dead Songs in Depth

    
This may be familiar to others, but one link to Cucamonga that I
hadn't come across before was that Frank Zappa worked in the Pal
Recording Studio there in the early 1960s. A retrospective
compilation of some of those tracks was issued under the title
'Cucamonga' in 1998.
  

    
"Cucamonga" is an actual place in California, of course. It was an ongoing
riff in the Jack Benny Show, if I recall correctly. Buses leaving for
"Anaheim, Azusa, and Cucamonga!"
  

    
Just like the Jan & Dean song, with the line emblazoned on my
consciousness from when I was very young: "It's the Anaheim, Azusa,
and Cucamonga too, sewing circle and book review."
