Hello everyone.
wow. a lot of exciting things happened while I was away, I see.

Last week I saw Jethro Tull live finally. Ian's old, but he can still
run back and forth across the stage like a madman, and his flute
playing skills are better than ever.
Then I saw Rammstein. I was in the first row. The fire marshal denied
the venue a pyro liscense, so instead of the lead singer coming out on
stage in flames, he came out smoldering. They put on a really, really
entertaining show, especially considering that half of their show is
lighting things on fire and blowing stuff up.
Wow. Big week for music. I also heard three tracks off of "Strange
Little Girls". I didn't know what to think at first, because, as Neil
said, it's not what you expect. Now can't get them out of my head and
am even more anxious to buy the album and hear the whole thing.

Squeaks- Hello! And welcome back!

Len- Hello! And welcome back! And good luck with the musical. THat's
marvolous.

Martha- Happy belated b-day!

JaNell- are you so sure that goldennokomis is still gonna be you?

Hmph. I guess I don't have much to say these days...

Dan, ever since you posted "Welcome back Mistress Mousey!" I have been
unable to think of her in terms other than "Accost... Good Mistress Mousey
Accost"....

Squaks--Welcome back! I missed you!

Len--meant to say this earlier--you just try having a reading here
without me. Just try it. I dare ya.

Um. Er. Um. Well, that is, um. Please don't.

Neil--just read the blogger & I can't figure out how you got to London
in under 5 hours (you said that that was the longest flight of the
tour). I want to try it!

Oh, er, duh. Did you Concord? How was it? And my sympathies on that
lousy flight to Vancouver. It's no surprise to me that Murphy was an
Irishman........M.

Oh, Angelina--aren't Tull cool? Saw them a couple of years go here. I
play flute, and Ian's a hero. They really do still rock--love Songs
From the Wood....

Mary (reading Joan of Arc by Mary Gordon-it's great)

JaNell - What a wonderful summary! Thanks!

And who had a baby? Jouni?

Angelina - Missed you too! Missed EVERYbody here!

Dan W. - Kudos on the Martha and Neil stories for the show. That would
be incredibly cool if they both made it. And thanks for directing me
to <streak>'s speech. I'm now looking at some of my old modeling photos
and twitching (me, in the first 'infamous Neil jacket' and not a whole
lot else). Yeah. Thanks, Dan... and streak.

Pam - Just so you know, I'm tired, and WAAAAY behind on posts, so
reading your notes to Robynne and Kelly... I really had to double take
before I realized you weren't talking about sex... or maybe my mind is
just always in the gutter. It's Tuesday and I already checked the
newsgroup, so it's likely. (no, I don't think I make much sense either
right now) And I rather like that Neil uses big and odd words. I could
go on about this but I'll just leave it at that.

Len - Good luck with the musical

Erynne - Hello (waves excitedly). Sounds like you had a blast at the
shows.

Elise - tee hee!

Mary - Good to be back. And the 5 hours was referring to the longest
"internal flight", as in, no crossing of big puddles. :)

squeaks, who is going into Thunderdome and Thingie Theme Camp mode
from here on out. if I drive y'all nuts with Burning Man references,
just knock me on the noggin with some rebar.

Janell ... wouldn't dream of leaving you out of any Neil-related
perversity. And I would never try to take complete credit for this
travesty against Neil's modesty.

Elise.. oh good... *grin*

Mistress Mousey... Leather Jacket and not much else? ... *must be
good, must be good, must be good* ... sounds like a very ...
invigorating photo shoot.

Miss Mousey! Wellcome back! Missed you! And yes, I am still
listening to "Lost Causes." Not constantly, as before, but once a day,
at least (except weekends, when I don't work; it's on my work
computer). Oh, and I'm seconding Dan's thoughts on the leather jacket
photo shoot.

Dan- Man! Wish I lived near the area... I *so* want in on this Neil
perversity. Hrrmm. Maybe I'll just have to plan a trip. I do need to
get away from NYC for a while....

Pam- What I love about Neil's vocabulary is that-- well, when he says
a word like "insouciant," he really means insouciant. It seems like he
chooses his words carefully, which is refreshing, as opposed to the
pedantic idiots that use enormous words where diminutive ones will do,
for the sake of appearing more intelligent. I *hate* that. I've
actually yelled at a friend for using 'supercilious,' when there was
absolutely no need for anything beyond 'proud.' (and, really,
supercilious is a dumb word; maybe it's the biology major in me, but
doesn't it sound like something to do with paramecia, and cilia? Well,
it does to me, anyway).

Mary- I'm *such* a fan of Joan of Arc; people have their William
Wallace obsessions, I have Joan of Arc. I've been looking for Mark
Twain's book on her for a while now, and haven't been able to find it
(all right, so I haven't been looking all *that* hard). I would have
loved to have written a novel about her, but, well, N64 had a game
called "Perfect Dark" with the character Joanna Dark, and while other
people didn't pick up on it, I did. It's not a Joan of Arc game,
provided, but, well, there are Joan of Arc resonances.

Erynn- You saw Rammstein? I love Rammstein; with the German lyrics,
I've always thought they sound like Heavy Metal kicking ass, or on
crack. They're *awesome*. Sorry he didn't come out flaming, but,
well, I'm glad the show rocked anyway... How's "Du Hast" live? Does it
lose anything? And did they do "Engel?"

Will Entrekin: I have a copy of the Twain. Email me your snail mail
addy, and I'll pop it in the post... If you love Jeanne D'Arc, then I
suggest not watching the Witchblade tv series, like, EVER, as your head
might explode. And anyone who actually knows how to pronounce the name
Conchobhar would also receive the same caution.

Neil has always contributed to my vocabulary in such the good way. To
this day, whenever I use the word "limn", I think of him.

Will - perhaps after Burning Man, we can organize this. What might
work is if people make their own tapes doing the entire rant, and send
it to me (or someone else who really wants to handle it) to be
converted to digital format and edited into Quicktime. that way we can
get folks coast to coast.

Will- Yes, DU Hast and Engel were awesome live. Nothing is lost in the
live songs whatsoever. At one point the lead singer (I don't know
thier names) grabbed the keyboardist by the pants, lifted him up, put
him on a platform, pulled down his pants and pretended to hump him with
a dildo connected to a hose. Then he shot water all over the audience.
He came in my friend's eye. It was hilarious! But then the hose person
must have missed their que because the water wouldn't stop, so the
singer ran around beating it trying to get it to stop, and there was
much laughter.

Mary- Yes, Tull was wonderful. THey did a Song's From the Wood medley
which made me very happy, as that's my fave album.

I learn a lot vocabulary wise from Neil, too. Actually, I learn a lot
from Neil in general. I especially like his writing advice. Simple, but
true.

Squeaks- (waves excitingly back) How've you been?

Jouni -- not really. I mean, I kind of get to experience them as the

Pamela -- lustrated means purified by means of ceremony.

Mary -- longest internal flight. Are the Concordes running again?

Hi Elise. Hi Will. I do tired. I do somewhere between exhausted and
trashed and my right arm hurts and prickles.

But the tour is done too, and later today I fly home, and will sleep
in my own bed, and see my family, and not sign anything.

And this is a good thing.

N (trying to figure out why I got e-mail telling me about a news story
about American Gods going into its fourth printing, when it's now in
its seventh printing.)

JaNell- nope. it seems that you're still you.

Erynn, who just finished her first (and hopefully last) "erotica"
