Erynn - but is it a good thing, still being myself?

And can we read the erotica? I'll trade a story with you, but I've no
current erotica...

something.

Sorry, been gone long time. In-laws in town on ultra-mighty never
before seen fine tooth combing of entire L.A. and surrounding areas.
seriously considering hibernating for a few months.

hello, neil, welcome back. rest. regenerate. grow new arm.
your book caused MUCH amazing dialogue last night among some brilliant
artist humans. one writer/actor told me that you are the first writer
that he actually feels genuinely JEALOUS of for writing what he's been
thinking and dreaming for a long, long time. he was boiling with
excitement and joy while he made this statement. i watched the people
in the room start to crackle electrically while talking about your work
and how it is affecting them creatively. i'm seeing inspiration, and
i'm seeing you as the bellows. thank you!!

Whew... back! Leave for six days, come back to an amazing backlog of
... everything!

Pamela - Yosemite was great. We did high country backpacking - drove
up 120 to Snow Pond, hiked to May Lake and stayed there for two days. I
made my first mountainclimbing attempt - Mt Hoffman - and failed due
to altitude sickness. But there is a photo of me and a GPS reading
10,000 feet! (So what that I only climbed about 750 of it - for an
asthmatic, it's impressive!) The next day we hiked almost all the way
to Tenaya Lake and stopped in a little marsh theoretically known as
Polydome Lakes, but really it was a mosquito infested swampland, as
evidanced by the numerous bites all over me. The final day we wandered
down to Tenaya Lake, and then down to the Valley floor, where my other
drove me around and pointed out where he used to live, where their back
lawn was (on the Merced!) and told me stories of growing up in
Yosemite.

Anyhow... two days and a very long drive later, I'm home again in
Seattle. :-) Pamela - where did you guys go, and did the power outage
affect you?

Now that I'm done with Yosemite, I've to finish packing/moving, and
then focus all my attentions on Burning Man... so if every other
sentance out of me mirrors Miss Mousey, and is solely about rebars and
parachutes and debating the different scaffolding methods and various
merits of each,... please forgive me. :-)

-Kelly, who is immensely pleased that her offhanded NerfMe comment has
infected everyone,...

For me, too, I guess, 'cause then I'd miss out on things like what
happened last night:

After puttering around on the web for a while, I went up to bed,
making the usual stop in the bathroom...
About 1:30 am or so, I guess...
So I'm sitting there and everything starts shaking violently and I'm
thinking, you know, brand new plumbing shouldn't *do* this.

Today I found out that we had an earthquake - in East Tennessee -
epicenter only about fifty miles away...

Which probably explains why the toilet was dancing with me.

Neil -- welcome back. Do get some rest and eat something other than
sushi. And for those of us who are junkies -- what's your next project?

JaNell -- oh dear. I do hope you and the pipes were okay.

Hugs all.

Linda - well, yes. I know that we're sitting on top of a huge old
fault line here, but this part of Tennessee general doesn't have any
problem weather or natural disasters. Except the annoyance of 90
degree/90% humidity right now, and a month or so where we *might* get
enough snow or ice to call off school, or occasional flooding that can
be avoided by not living in a low area... and of course, tornados don't
like mountains, although they've increased dramatically in the last
ten years.
So I was taken completely by surprise, would not have felt it at all
if I'd been asleep, I guess, and wouldn't have known that's what it was
if someone hadn't told me...

Rani - If the pipes aren't OK, I'm pretty sure I got the
ultra-paranoid "you want EARTHQUAKE insurance? In EAST TENNESSEE?"
stuff on our homeowner's insurance 'cause my little voice told me to.

like that one.

But, Rani, my little voice also tells me to tease Neil.

Oh and you can have ice cream at Neil's message board. Any kind you
want. It's in the World's End section.

I'd also highly recommend Vicious Kitty's Party, 'cause if you think
*this* group is barking mad... let's just say, when things get too tame
over here, I slide over there for some fun. But don't go to that
particular one if you honestly think some things should be sacred. Like
Neil's dignity.

Don't feel bad, I haven't read _Sandman_ and I'm still considering
making a stuffed Delirium doll out of a rag doll blank I picked up at
Big Lots and a lot of really wonderful glass beads... matte for the
skin... maybe metallic for the clothes... and I have eyeball and fishy
beads...

Ah, Sweet Delirium...

Dan Guy--
Every so often, the general interconnectedness of the internet rears
its head. Today is one of those days. It seems you and I have a bit of
the past in common. That bit is Voices, and the early issues to boot.
It's amazing what looking back across three years will turn up.

Will--I got your email, and the book will be on it's way soon. For the
second day in a row, I forgot to put it in my purse to take with me to
work. That would be the part where I suck. But Monday! I swear on the
lives of my unborn children's favourite stuffed toys, you will have
your Mark Twain soon.

Neil---Glad you can finally be at home again, but thank you for coming
and making a great many people happy at the signings. It's cool you
liked Victoria...the Pacific Northwest really is a nice place, even
when it rains.

That's too bad about the guy with the stories. If it happens again,
you should refer the person to my website :) Its a collection of
quotations from you on writing (thougths, advice, etc), that will grow
as I read even more interviews!
