Will - look forward to seeing you whenever it is that you make it out here. Left coast... does that make us the coast 'gauche', and thus cooler and more expensive? Mike - I think, just maybe, I can do that... I can even turn it into an art project. I think for now it will just have to be an odd pseud. squeaks, who can't decide between the club she's neglected and the party at the mansion tonight... no really!

E-mail from Dianna: i must apologise to those of you who are fans of the Crocodile Hunter, for calling him daft. Beg pardon. It was thoughtless of me to go throwing remarks like that about. i first saw his show just a few weeks ago - just a bit of one episode - had sharks in - and 'amazed' is a much nicer word for how i felt about it :) Cheers Martha, for helping me find the right word. Really, i had no idea the Crocodile Hunter was popular at all. Some friends who'd spent time in the States enlightened us as to who he was when we saw Cartman impersonating him in a South Park episode a long while back^Ê i've always been more of a David Attenborough fan myself, but it's hardly fair to compare Mr. Hunter with him. We can't all be smooth and English after all :) And i certainly never dreamed there were toys^ÊFlamin' amphibious doody! :) dianna

Erynn -- well, I thought that the stories would be up on the web pre-publication, along with the photos; they even video'd a conversation between me and Tori in London, where I read the stories and we talked about the songs and the characters and where they'd come from -- chatted about everything from Cindy Sherman to how Rattlesnakes snuck off the B-list and surprised everyone, and the B-side songs (After All, Only Women Bleed, Hoover Factory, and the one I hope she keeps for a greatest hits album or something) and so on. It could be it didn't work, or there wasn't time to get it edited, or something. But as I've said on the Well every time it's been mentioned, Tori never wanted the stories in the CD booklet, she always wanted a line from them there, and then the stories published in the tour booklet. It's her call -- I wrote them for her. (I hope they send me the tour booklet stuff to proofread before it goes out. They always forget, and it's sometimes embarrassing.) Last time I stopped by the Dent forum I learned that Tori had cancer (and despite the fact this seemed to have been posted by a troll with Tourette's it was being taken at least half-way seriously), and that Natashya was born with some crippling genetic disorder she doesn't have either. (Healthy, smart, loud baby. Funny baby. Busy baby.)Decided it's less irritating just to go to the Dent newspage if I need to check things. Elise -- I'd make a rotten Saint. But if I had to be a patron Saint I'd like to be one for people who need it but don't have one. But I do like introducing people who ought to know each other but don't. Tree -- they consolidate meals a lot. Veggie often becomes vegan. Heart healthy, diet, wheat free, low salt and a few more are all the same, and are tasteless. Kelly -- was that in Oakland, where they made me talk at the breakfast? I remember croaking something pitiful and sitting down again. ... In Trieste. Many posts behind. More later.

Why yes it was, Neil. Hosted by Bob Borden of Fantasy Books and Games/Distribution... tho for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the Con. Big one, tho. In Oakland. The breakfast was a Sunday morning, way too early, and you said that much, and that was about it. ;-) Why don't they do lunches or dinners? They seem much more suited to, well, all of our schedules, really. :-) It's been a good 24 hours. Worked a half day yesterday, had All You Can Eat Sushi at Niko's in the Westin Hotel (and good sushi, too, and inexpensive - it's a great find), had my feet rubbed after lunch and took a nap, got reading and work done last night, and breakfest in bed this morning. I'm feeling very cat-like, and very very spoiled. :-) Hope the rest of you have a great weekend,... -Kelly

Martha - all the details about the show are at http://www.cafearts.com I won't do the whole PR schpiel here again, but that's a good place for information. We open on Friday and as soon as we get a young priest and an old priest to hold vigil over the computer serving the digital video... we should be in good shape. Mousey - party at a mansion?? I dont want to get your hopes up but..I thought I'd plant the little seed of idea in your head... I've been working on a painting the past couple of days and I pretty much finished it, it might need some touching up but it was 98% finished and I left for the evening and came home and saw it on my drafting table and was impressed. *laugh* I feel like I'm finally over my dry-uncreative phase... *YeaY* too bad I still haven't been able to sleep. oh well Its given me more time to read and draw! *HUGS* Tori Bat!

Martha - I know... it's getting damn close. Still, we're in GREAT shape for being a week away. A few technical issues to iron out (mostly involving the ghosts (big surprise there), but it's looking freaking great. We're about sold out for Friday. Saturday is still looking pretty open, but I'd suggest making reservations (it'll keep our producer from pacing madly and smoking even more than usual). Also, I had mentioned after show Q&A session.. I know that Matt's been lining that up with a college group to come see the show... are you still interested in that? JaNell - anyone who can harrass Neil as mercilessly as you do and have him not mind it is beyond interesting in my book... you get to be *fascinating*! Linda - Saturday? Ok, that clinches it. I was considering going to party with practical strangers in Santa Cruz on Saturday night, but I'll definitely be at the theatre if y'all are gonna show up. Once a show opens I tend to only go when I have people in the audience. After all, the show belongs to the actors at that point and I've seen the damn thing about a hundred times by then. (Not that it isn't worth seeing two hundred times... but in a row??)

Never mind the pseud, just had to have it on record for all the world to see. Kelly - WonderCon - I go every year (starting the year after Neil was there, by unhappy coincidence). Neil - I dunno. Sainthood might be a possibility. You *are* very good at introducing people who need to meet (speaking from experience). And here I was thinking it was all just a ploy to keep me from bothering you at readings. :P Dan - Yipes! Um... Okay, I'll just re-schedule a few things at work to go to the show... hmmm... I think it's possible. And yes, party at my manager's mansion, appropriately located on a twisty street way up in the hills. I ended up not going to either, as I needed to start work on a web page and go to sleep, and as I'm not much of a drinker, it would have been boring after the first hour (and then I'd have to entertain myself by pushing the annoying drunks over one of the balconies and the cops would have come and wouldn't have found it funny at all...) madman - you slipped! Um, that's a wonderful idea (NLB, that is). I may have to do something similar. squeaks, who is supposed to be entertaining friends, not posting.

Enjoyed Ghost Girl's message, and the use of American Gods as example. Dianna -- I miss the blogger too. Every now and then I write an entry and put it in so there will be a few when it goes on line, I expect. Will -- 23 is a good age. I liked being 23. People said "But you're so YOUNG" a lot. (Nobody ever says that to me any more. The best I get is a wistful sort of "Well, you don't LOOK old, Daddy," from Holly, which always seems to carry a subtext of dusty wheelchairs, ear trumpets, and hospices about with it.) And I sold my first two books when I was 23, too, although I was an old man compared to Chip Delany. Or Moorcock. Or John M. Ford.... It's raining in Trieste.
