Well, with everyone posting pix, I'm feeling like a slacker.
These are old now, by "net" standards... but still.

posting this, but what the hell)

and although it isn't nearly as cool as the pics I've seen so far,
I've got me in my halloween duds (general masked pirate... I didn't
have the gloves or the black head scarf to go Dread Pirate Roberts.)

Dan, teeheehee. Not shy so much as mortified having a camera trained
my way. I *love* Mary's picture -- it's so funny! And pirates are the
coolest. There was a pirate name generator somewhere once. I was Mad
Ethel somethingoranother, a reliable pirate. What's a reliable pirate?

Rocky, I miss the Village Halloween parade. Last time I went, I was
whooshed across the street by a mass of people, my feet never touching
the ground. It was so bizarre and terrifying and fun. This year, I just
watched horror movies and went to bed. By the by, do you ever go to
the Nuyorican Poets Cafe?

Oh, Dan, you're so dead.

We (me & Debbie) went to see Janah do 2 songs at a live radio
broadcast for Halloween, and Peter Wolf opened. He rocked, too. The
sound was crap in the bar, but Janah soared--they can really turn it
on, no matter how tired they are. We hung with them briefly, and
turned our friends Mark & Andrea on to them. Then we went to see them
do a full set for the first time on Friday. Wow. It was great! They
may be in Chicago for New Year's...crossing all my fingers.

It was a fun weekend, but now I have nothing exciting coming up.
After the last 3 weekends' excitement, I'm going to be bored ;-)

I suppose this means I can't put off cleaning my house any longer,
doesn't it? Bugger.

Dan - Thanks for the pics...and good luck ducking Mary..hehe...

Maure - I haven't been to the Nuyorican in awhile, but I was a serious
attendee of Poetry Slams when they first got started. Def Jam on
Broadway featured wide spectrum of Poetry Slam winners, including Beau
Sia, an Asian artist who professes to be a practitioner of "Exxxxtreme
Poetry." Think Tony Hawk meets Robert Frost. You had to hear it to
believe it. ;>

Rocky, I loved the Nuyorican. My roommate then, Vito, had friends who
had a gig playing there on Tuesdays (? I think), and V would sit in
sometimes. He had me write up some poetry to read while the band
played, but I never found the courage to do it.

Maure - Let me be the first to encourage you to try it out. That's
what the venue was created for in the first place, and from what I've
heard it's still going strong. Besides, you've already got your own
cheering section. *grin*

Christy, I owe you in a big way. Seems that you sent a new fan our
way, someone looking for LA bands to listen to. Thank you so much!
If there's any way to repay the favor, I'll do it!

Maure, I understand the Nuyorican thing. I enjoyed going there but
never felt like I could get up and perform, which is fine because those
that did were very much worthwhile.

Mary, your red curls are lovely.

Neil, did you say a while ago that there were going to be "Nicholas
Was" Christmas cards? Where...what...how...huh?

I had the most awful weekend. I lost the stone out of my favorite
ring, didn't get the job I wanted, might not get the house, one of the
house cats, Dora went missing, and the little one, Spud was struck by a
car and died. It was by far the worst weekend of my adult life.
Thankfully the man got out of the car and came to the door, it was an
accident and he was very kind in his actions after.
So in an effort to cheer myself up, I scanned a ton of pictures in
from my vacation, and let me say that the one with Micky Mouse isn't
me, it someone who sort of looks like me only tired and crank and hot
and not standing at a very good angle.
I also picked up "Salmon of a Doubt" by Douglas Adams last night and
read it cover to cover, it was a good and nice chunk of time.

Jinxie who knows it gets better

Back, tired, from WFC and points between. Had a lovely time at the

Tara.

Jinx- I'm so sorry :( Good vibes your way and what forth....

Christy- I know. I'm still having nightmares!

Everyone in pictures- You all look lovely:)

Neil- Buahaha! You still don't have the non walkman Scarlet? That
cracks me up. Sometimes Scarlet's Web lets me in sometimes it doesn't.
I won't post the whole stories, but here's some snippets.

From the Sorta Fairytale route- "Feeling like Alice when she tipped
the bottle that read 'Drink Me' and I did getting then getting smaller.
Feeling my way in your world."

Amber Waves route- "'Look', she faultered a bit--'he's bringing her to
this thing. There's not a lot of me left. I can't face them alone.'"

Sound familiar?

And to anyone considering not buying the album because of Epic's silly
antics-- just buy the regular CD. The music stands on its own. It
doesn't need gimics or hoopla. They're all great songs that speak for
themselves. The album has Classic written all over it, though it
probably won't get the credit it deserves. It makes me sad the state of
the music business these days. It doesn't seem to be about music
anymore. I remember when buying a CD with 12 or so songs was enough to
get people excited. And I'm not even old. *sigh*

Haha! Actually I do remember cassettes and vinyl. I was in third?
grade when CDS started getting popular or whereabouts. I remember my
family renting a CD player from the library because they were too
expensive to buy. And I had lots of Vinyl. I had Michael Jackson's Beat
It, Sesame Street Christmas (still my favorite), The Pointer Sisters,
and Mister Rogers! Yo.

Yep, I'm cheating - CDs were becoming mainstream by the time I was 12 or 13,
but because my family was cheap I didn't actually own a CD player until I
was 20 and bought it with my own money...

Christy, re: 1748, yep, that's me. I have a relatively few pictures to
be posted from the WFC doings, including a couple of the assembled
throng dressed as a bunch of demented Alice in Wonderland escapees.
Walker as the White (trash) Rabbit, Pam as the raver Cheshire Cat,
Jessica Cohen as Alice from American McGee's Alice, myself as the
Caterpillar in substance abuse recovery (complete with Hookahderm CQ
patches, my wife Sarah as a card-shark Queen of Hearts, and aRvin as
The Narrator. A good time was definitely had by all, despite having to
walk a half-dozen blocks in sub-freezing weather in decidedly
non-winter clothes. Brr.

Email from Christy:

Happy Guy Fawkes Day, everyone! (As if we were all British or something....)

Rocky -- And here's one starting at $3.99:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=919687555

And another one at $7:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=919900616&ssPageName=ADME:B
:SS:US:1

Maure -- I was thinking more along the lines of a dark, sci-fi/adventure-type
show. That "exiled time traveler" thing sounded pretty cool. Hmm, yes,
maybe you *should* try writing a story. A story that eventually gets shared
with us Wellians.... <g>

Wow, two Neil events in a row -- how could you stand it? <eg>

I finally got a chance to watch _Live at the Aladdin_ Sunday and Monday
nights. What fun! (Great job, Neil!) Most of it is new material to me, and
it's nice to get acquainted with some of the bits you guys have been talking
about for years. And "Locks" made me melt. Have I mentioned that I LOVE
Maddy? :)

There are some technical glitches in the tape (a couple of fuzzy moments, and
I can't get rid of the ghosts), but in the end it's a treasure that I'm glad
I got.

Mary -- Enjoy having "nothing exciting coming up" for a while. I could use a
little more of that myself. :)

BTW, I so love the color of your hair! Makes me want to break out the Auburn
#80 sometime soon, once the jet black finishes washing out.

And thanks for the pix, Dread Pirate Wilson!

Erynn -- Jeeze, I remember 8-Track! And I probably still have some
tapes stored away somewhere that could possibly make me a fortune on
eVIL-bay. Mwahahahahahaha! [Too bad I didn't keep the platforms.]

And speaking of Scarlet's Walk...woke up on Saturday morning and
caught Tori singing "A Sorta Fairytale" on Today in NY. How cool was
that? She sounds wonderful and looks so happy, it was a real pleasure
to see her.

Christy - Thanks for the Babble updates on Evil-bay, maybe I'll give
in and bid on one. ;>

Oooh..Jonathan Carroll is coming to NYC. [Thanks for the notification

Thanks everyone for the kind wishes. I have my fingers crossed that

Not only do I know 8-tracks but I have a ton and a working player!! A

player I have has a turntable as well. I love it.

Tara's, Mary's, and Debbie's way. I'm so happy to see them live!

Tracey, my cat Ernie ran away a couple of times, just out for two
week jounts around the world I suppose. She always found her way back.
I'll cross my fingers that Dora does the same.
