Oh, and answer your other question, Georgia, you guess correctly. Neil wrote about the blue screen of a tv channel here: http://www.neilgaiman.com/journal/2004/12/some-days-bears-on-top.asp

Oh, I didn't notice Glen had answered before I started this post, but I'll leave some of it here. The tricky thing about HTML here is that you have to precede your HTML code with a backslash (). So your begin tag would look like this, only without the space: <i> and your end tag like this, sans space: </i> BUT, as Glen said, the Web interface of the Well gives us the capability but we're mostly not "allowed" to use it because of the many text-only readers, for whom the code just looks like soup. I will add that it doesn't matter as much in THIS particular topic right here, because most of the regulars use the Web interface. (Also, this is one of the rare publicly-viewable conferences that non-members can read, and non-members cannot use the text-only interface.) But even here, we get a text-only user visiting about once every two years, so in deference to them, we try to use HTML sparingly if at all. There actually are topics in various places on the Well where HTML is used and even encouraged, but most places frown upon it. So for "italics," you can always fall back on lame capital letters, _underscores_, or *asterisks*. Or type in a monotone. ;)

I forget if I said this before, but all you New York-area Wolves may want to know that your girl Tori is going to be speaking at the 92nd Street Y on February 24. (http://www.92y.org/shop/event_detail.asp?catalog=92y%5FCatalog&productid=T%2DL C5WL07 -- That's the location where art spiegelman and Neil did their panel for New York is Book Country last year.) Oh, Georgia -- I want some of your latkes! And a flour-free chocolate cake sounds like a nice gift for Neil. And creamy chocolate sauce... drooooool.... Actually, haven't they found out that chocolate is good for you? And coffee. They have those much-coveted antioxidants. Hey, all things in moderation, right? Guess our bodies crave even sweets for a reason. <vbg> Dan (and everyone) -- I checked on the teapot auction this morning, and according to the updates towards the bottom, someone has paid her full tuition for the semester! (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5544142456) I am so happy! People really can be so nice sometimes, even if you only hear about it around this time of year.

Erk! I'm trying to spread the word, but with TWO cats in the house that are both still at the "it's small, it's fuzzy, it moves, it must be KILLED!" phase, I don't think I can take one in! Which sucks, because I love ratties. They are the fuzziest and sweetest (well, usually) little critters. *sigh* I hope they're all adopted!

Right now they're desperately looking for foster homes for the rats, not permanent homes. Well, I hope they're still looking and haven't given up yet.

Quote tinymonster: ---Oh, Georgia -- I want some of your latkes! And a flour-free chocolate cake sounds like a nice gift for Neil. And creamy chocolate sauce... drooooool....--- He doesn't eat flour? Oh, if I had known. I have a bunch of good flour-free dessert recipes because of Pessach (Passover). Though it sounds weird even here - "Hello, Mr. Gaiman - you don't know me - but here are some flour free family recipes." Thanks to everybody for explaining the HTML issues here. I'm so used to the whole Live Journal menu of choices (bold, italics, etc.) that I got spoiled. Which begs the question - anybody else has an LJ? I really have a problem with rats - I'm having trouble doing research on them because the stuff usually comes with a picture and... I'm such a wuss. I can't look. I thought of changing everything so it wouldn't be about rats, but I can't do it. It rebels and sticks its rodent-y tongue at me and then it just refuses to move at all. So rats it is. Waiting for Stardust with pretty cover to arrive in the mail.

Merry Christmas Jouni - those are all great (the Santa from last year is priceless) and I bookmarked the site. Here's my -make art- contribution (though I wouldn't call it art exactly, more like doodles). http://photobucket.com/albums/v520/GCA/Web/?action=view¤t=JJHolidays04. gif I said it before and will say it again - I hope everybody gets a Holy Christmas Miracle Weeping Tea Pot of some sort in their lives in 2005. It's that time of the year when you start taking stock of what went on and what you want to go on. Make wise choices, or at least make fun ones.

Shallow rant: I read Mr. Gaiman's blog over LJ and every single post has at least a couple of people posting replies as if he read LJ. I shouldn't really care, but sometimes the comments are nice/heartfelt/etc and I can't help myself and I post the link to the site's FAQ. Walk away, I tell myself. But it's like the shoe left carelessly upside down next to the bed... I just... can't!

- Quote tinymonster: I've linked to pictures from the Pittsburgh signing - I tried seeing them, but no luck. I don't need to see the pictures to agree that, of course, Mr. Gaiman has the nicest fans. Happy Well anniversary to you both, btw. :-) -#- Question: Any news on Anansi's publication date? I know Mr. Gaiman is trying to finish it by the end of the year (I do check the blog on LJ more often now), but what does it actually mean as to publication date? Sometime at the end of 2005? I've been witness to the whole finished writing the book now let's go over it and then publish the thing and it was about 15 months - so I'm guessing. Anybody knows for sure? -#- 2004 will be remembered. Even though I miss my cigarettes frantically, it will be nice having my first Marlboro Reds free anniversary on February 26th, 2005 at 13:07. It was gray and rainy that day and had I known it was to be my last, I wouldn't have put it out without sucking it to its carcinogenic end. Now 2005 is literally around the corner and it should be interesting to stick around for the Year of the Monkey (supposed to be all about fun and partying).

Oh, I screwed up the photo link. Try http://www.mysticcolorlab.com/share/p=813221103739871582/l=39057811/cobrandOid =1005 instead. You have to register, but maybe www.bugmenot.com will work there. I've never tried it myself. The first few came out really dark online, but they look better in real life.
