You might also want to make sure the venue isn't already setting
something like that up for the guest authors, too (à la Penguincon).

Yeah, that could well be!

<(I thought Neil might need his neck massaged too, what with looking
up from books to faces and then back down over and over?)>

Agree... I've always thought that if my experience working at a
computer is any indication, he's probably tight from his neck down to
his fingertips by the time he gets out of those things. A good chair
massage can do wonders.

(Boy do your fans love you, Neil. It's impressive. I would add, "Do
you know how lucky you are?", but, well, actually, you do!)

Wooo! Got my latest package from Dreamhaven with the Mirrormask book
and Dream King and hardback Dolls House. Coolness.

I'm sure it's just my own twisted mind at work, but wouldn't it be
better to find out:

1) If Mr. Gaiman doesn't mind.
2) How much of a fan the person with the v. low fee is...

I know, I know - I'm being horrid. It's just that I occasionally read
the comments and posts on the neil_gaiman community (LJ) and some
people are a bit on the scary side. Granted - not everybody and I'm
sure the anonymity of the internet encourages the kind of statement
sane people would not dare make face to face, but still.

Feel free to completely ignore me.

1) was already mentioned by Dan (something along the lines of, "...if
Neil could be persuaded"), but 2) is a good point! It would be good to
find out how long the MT has been around. If he's a respected
professional who's been established in the community for a while, that
would be a good sign. (Certified massage therapists tend to be
extra-professional in their work to live down the rep given them by the
"masseuses" who only seem to crop up between the palm reader and the
tatoo parlor.)

And Dan, let me know if there's anything I can do to help. I'm more
or less local.

-Christy, who has been known to deal with scary "fans" of her own....

That could be a good idea, too! Of course, it's usually hard to
determine when Neil will be done signing....

Yeah, I know! Made me feel as though we're hatching a worthwhile plot
here, anyway.

I was just looking at his schedule for the Fall, and noticed that he
doesn't have a day off in there for almost three weeks! I thought he
wasn't going to do that sort of thing anymore. I guess his appearances
have to coincide with all the book festivals and events, though.
Well, if our little present works out, maybe it'll give his immune
system a well-timed boost.

I just heard from my contact <814>, and she sounds interested! I'll
see what I can find out about her rates. This is someone I've known
for a long time from a local composers' organization, so I know she's
not any more "out there" than anyone else here. :)

Do you want me to put her in touch with you, Dan?

So there are now 3 sets of MirrorMask figurines out (maybe I knew
that). I was flipping through an _Entertainment Earth_ catalog someone
had given me, and among the LotR and superhero stuff, a Music Box
Person caught my eye. Not bad for a movie that hasn't even come out
yet!

Are all his book tours like this? I'm not one to fret, but I have to
say even I'm starting to hope for a break soon on his schedule.

The bits of news on Coraline make my young'un quite happy.

Dan - count me in for the intended present. I'm starting to see why.
