Wednesday 3
Start off the quarter with a contradance at NFM in Berkeley, featuring the affable Erik Hoffman calling with music by Chris Knepper, Charlie Hancock and, visiting from Monterey, fiddler Patti Walters.
In San José, there's the English country dance at SJS. (The first one after last weekend's Playford Ball! Jody McGeen and Cynthia Stenger call with music by Greenwich Mean Time (Vaughn Wolff, Stan and Susan Kramer and Kay Thorne.
Friday 5
English dance in downtown Palo Alto at MT. Bob Fraley teaches and leads dances with music by the Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Stan and Susan Kramer).
Saturday 6
The San Francisco contradance at (you guessed it) SF. Jim Saxe calls the dances, special guests The Ski Bunnies play the tunes. (TJ Johnson and Laura Light, both hailing from Charlottesville, VA, with local fave Daniel Stienberg on keyboards.)
Wednesday 10
The second Wednesday East Bay English dance: series programmer David Newitt calling, and music by those English country bandits Kathrine Gardner, Kit Nelson and Charlie Hancock.
Friday 12
The second Friday East Bay contra at FIN ... with caller Kirston Koths and music by Chris Knepper, Patti Walters and Craig Johnson.
Saturday 13
Two dances at PA: The second Saturday family dance, starting at 5pm with a potluck dinner at 6:30. Bob Fraley and Joyce Uggla teach dances for all the ages...
Following that at PA will be the Palo Alto contra, with Eric Black calling and music by The Ski Bunnies (Daniel Steinberg, TJ Johnson and Laura Light).
Finally, in San Francisco at 7:30pm, it's the second Saturday English dance at CDS, with David Newitt leading dances with music by Kathrine Gardner, David Mostardi, and Charlie Hancock.
Sunday 14
Jim Saxe leads the 2nd Sunday Square and Contradance at ECV, starting at 7pm. Music will be by The ContraBandits (Charlie Hancock, Kathrine Gardner, Chris Knepper and Kit Nelson). This dance is a Special Newcomers' Night: be there for the introductory hour (however much you've danced before) and you get into the regular dance free.
Wednesday 17
The 3rd Wednesday San José English dance at SJS, with Jody McGeen and Joyce Uggla leading dances, with music by Greenwich Mean Time (Kay Thorne, Susan and Stan Kramer and Vaughn Wolff).
In Berkeley, the 3rd Wednesday contra at NFM features Erik Hoffman calling with mysic by Mike Drayton, John Pedersen and Perry Fly. It's an open band night, so bring your instruments and join in!
Friday 19
The downtown Palo Alto English dance at MT. Bob Fraley leads dances to the music of The Nonesuch Country Dance Band (Ruth Anne Fraley, Stan and Susan Kramer).
Saturday 20
The third Saturday SF contra at SF. Kirston Koths calls, and music is provided by Deirdre Lynds, Patti Walters and Rebecca King.
Wednesday 24
The fourth Wednesday English dance, with Alisa Dodson leading dances and music by the mighty trio of Jon Berger, David Strong and Chuck Ward.
Friday 26
The 4th Friday San Francisco contra at SF, with special guest caller Donna Howell from El Paso, with music by our own ContraBandits (Chris Knepper, Kit Nelson, Charlie Hancock and Kathrine Gardner).
Saturday 27
In the South Bay, there's a contradance in Palo Alto at PA. Eric Black calls and music is provided by the ContraBandits (Kit Nelson, Charlie Hancock, Kathrine Gardner and Charlie Hancock).
In the North Bay, there's also a contradance--in Fairfax at FCC. Stuart Moody leads dances, with music by local powerhouses Alison Gee, John Pederson, and Marty Jara.
Finally, there's an English country dance for experienced dancers at NFM. Alisa Dodson calls, with musicians Jon Berger, David Strong and Gregory Wilson.
Sunday 28
Dancing galore in El Cerrito at ECV: a Family dance at 4:30pm featuring Erik Hoffman and music by the Curlytones (Bobbie Nickles, Paul Kotapish and Carlo Calabi). This is followed by a potluck supper at 6pm, and at 7pm a Square/contra dance featuring the same folks.
