Oval is the production function it attends to the making of
whatever it is that the organization does. It is the basic
unit of the system in focus. We can focus on any kind of
unit and decide it is the system in focus. In a one unit
system, like a craft shop we would have only one rectangle
and would talk about all the functions in terms of the one
unit.
You may notice that the oval is not a perfect boundary this
is because the system must always be open to the
environment.
