If you're speaking to me
* this topic is not public
* I have not used the f-word in the public topic
* Even before I asked I was planning on being more mindful, more
demure in the public channel

This topic is not public?
Oops.
Everything posted in any Inkwell.vue topic is publicly viewable. I
mean, it's maybe less likely randos will visit this topic, but it's
not private.

It's publicly viewable, but it's unlikely that anyone who is not a
member of the WELL will see it, because it's not being linked
anywhere.

It is visible ... but it's not obvious how to get here
And then you have to find the last page.

Back to the original question: for me, Larry, I'm treating it as I
would any topic in any conf. On good behavior but not like, you
know, when you have guests you clean the house for and are careful
not to cuss. No point in that.

Just to be clear, when I said "let it all hang out," I was speaking
as co-host of the conference.
This is an extremely Well-like discussion.
Hah, great observation.
The word "pioneer" gets thrown around fairly promisuously, owing to
the increasingly rapid development life cycles of so many
transformative technologies, but one true arrows-in-the-back pioneer
in the adoption of computer mediated communications (what led to
social media; you're soaking in it) is Lee <lee> Felsenstein. Among
his many other notable accomplishments, his was reportedly the
Well's third user account.
And now he's written and self published a book about it: "Me and My
Big Ideas Counterculture, Social Media, and the Future. It
chronicles the early days of of what we would come to unironically
label "cyberspace", from one of the first intrepid infonauts.
Lee will be our featured guest author in <inkwell.vue> beginning
January 28 and continuing for two weeks, although I expect a long
tail to follow.
We're looking for a few good readers to read the book and then
participate in the discussion. If you're interested in joining the
discussion and would like a review copy (pdf) of the book, send
email to inkwell@well.com with Lee Felsenstein in the subject.
Save the date! And don't miss the annual State of the World
discussion in the new year, followed by a State of the Media
roundtable featuring the Well's embarrassment of riches in the media
professionals department.
