Well, I own American Gods now, and it is next on my reading list. (I have to
finish Blue Mars, first.) So I'm going to take a break from these two topics
until I finish it, because I fear that both topics are going to be too
spoilery for me. I read quickly, though, so I'll be back and caught up
before you know it. I say that for the both of you, there, in the back, who
will notice that I'm not here.
If anything interesting happens, like an outing to see <stagewalker> walking
on stage, someone drop me an email?

Thanks- I'll be back soon.

It would be considered a great kindness to those of us who either have
bought the book and have not had the time to read it, or who have not
yet had the opportunity to purchase it, if those of you who are posting
with spoilers, PLEASE HIDE YOUR COMMENTS. It's extremely unwieldy to
put in tons of blank space as is the norm with spoilers, but with the
availability of the "hidden" option, it seems the best way to go.
Thanks, and we now return you to your regularly scheduled topic, or
lack thereof. :)

If someone would like to clue me in to *how* to hide comments, I'd
gladly do so...

JaNell, Kali was directly (and indirectly) mentioned a few times over.
:-) I don't have the book with me, but I can go back and find the
sections where she is, if you like...

If I recall (and I've a spotty memory, so someone will, I'm sure,
correct me if I'm wrong), Bilquis was the Queen of Sheba, worshipped as
a goddess. The Muslim legend says she was overcome by the power of
Allah, fell to worship him and then married the Prophet Sulaiman.

Cheers!
-Kelly, who really should be working... honest

OK, having been verbally spanked twice today, once on each board, I'm
not sure what to say...

Kelly-
Cool. And thanks... I didn't think my theory quite fit, but I've only
read the book once, and feel like I need to go back & take notes if I'm
going to talk about it.

Oh, hiding a response... just click on the number of the response you
want to hide, and it will give you the option of hiding or scribbling,
which is like erasing, sort of.

JaNell--
I hadn't quite meant it to come out as a "spanking", but I suppose it
did. I was just a mite bit miffed about encountering the bit of spoiler
my eye settled on. It's amazing how quickly the eye can read when you
really don't want it to.

Oh dear lord...It looks like we are in for one intresting album.
Leave it to Tori to keep evolving and trying new things...I am very
looking forward to this.

(For the Tori fans who don't know what the album is about...go to
www.thedent.com and leave everything you supposed it was at the door.)

Martha - You are a mean and evil tease (with added 'hiss-boo' from
Tree) for mentioning that thing you're not to talk about. And after
being so nice with the mousies... ;P

Linda - You can also be jealous of Trev/Walker for the 'kersplooey'. I
got a second one (even louder) that Walker heard the next day. He
agrees. It just doesn't sound right. But it was a silly presentation
and made me happier, and I needed it (however ridiculous that seems).

Okay, off to get ready for a club or something (now that I'm sort of
caught up with you all)

squeaks, who is now exhausted from the web-leg of the tour.

Lisan--Welcome! Great story!

Rebecca--I love Sharon McCrumb!! And I really liked Rosewood Casket.
How totally cool!

JaNell--I think you might like her, too, if for no other reason than
titles like "Ï Always Miss My Man (But My Aim Is Getting Better)"

Mary, off to the hot tub. This dog-sitting thing is *so* rough :^)

(slaps his hand for not keeping up with posting)

Mary-- lol, I also truly feel for you. My mothers trips to Italy every
year means I've been called to duty many times. Taking care of a 15
year old, blind Pekinese (whose primary form of excercise seems to be
simply, well, breathing...) is a terrible burden.

Luckily The refridgerator was always well stocked so that I could keep
up my strength after a hard day of dog sitting. (or perhaps better
classified as "dog staring at")

-Shawn- who found out last night that not all ciders are sweet and
cuddly...

E-mail from Jouni:

Hi all

Jaysis, you people are fast. I was away one week and the messages went from
#100 to #336. I had to spend most of my working hours yesterday reading you
guys (please, don't tell my boss...)

OK. Here we go.

Dan Guy - Great pics. Lil' Alexander does look like a thinker...

Michelle - Our baby is due July 27 (officially), but according to the
ultrasound he/she may come one or two weeks earlier... and the doctor said
that he/she may come out anytime now...

Very excited (and a bit nervous) about it. We packed our bags ready for the
hospital the other day (like everyone suggests) and it felt very ...
dunno... HUGE. Like packing for a great and mysterious journey that you know
will change your life completely. And you don't know when your going and
when your coming back... IF your coming back.

Like I said... HUGE.

Will & Elise - Thanks, but I received a call from my 'dealer' just
yesterday:

'You asked about American Gods some time a go?'
'Yes?'
'Well, I have your copy right here.'
'What? I mean GREAT! Could you please send it to me as soon as possible,
please?'
'Sure thing. Would you like anything else?'
'Umm... nonono,that'llbefinethankyouverymuch...'
'You sure? Oh well (sigh), I'll just put the last copy of the Endless
Storybook back to the shelf then...'
'What? Nono!! I'll take that too... but thats all.'
'You don't want the latest issue of Gloomcookie, then?'
'What? No! I mean yes! I do...'

.... and so forth. Don't you just hate it when they know how to pull your
strings... anyways I'll be having my AG in a few days. Cooooolll.

My meeting Neil experience - I've met the man every time he's been in
Finland (three times that is) and every time I have felt like a total
fanboy-geek. And every time he's been kind and polite and funny.

BUT NEXT TIME you come here Neil, I'll... I'll be a total fanboy-geek
again...

Neil - Good to hear from you. Hope you are getting enough rest...

For all the newbies - Hello. I'm one of the almost-official hang-around
wellers. This is a very interesting place. Have fun.

Jouni (sorry about the long rant...)

If he flies by night, he might get an overhead view of fireworks. But that
would be too amusing to actually happen--

I saw that before in an evening flight from San Francisco to Arizona on the
4th... over the Central Valley we saw little fireworks displays from several
towns down below. Little sparkle-sprouts.

I was in London a few years ago on the Fourth and saw lots and lots of
fireworks. Hours of 'em. I never would've thunked it, for some
reason. Much better than the ones at home. Maybe some really homesick
Americans...maybe just a good excuse to set off sparkly lights.
Shawn--punched in the head by scrumpy, were you? They're remarkably
deceptive. Taste just like fizzy apple juice, until you've made the
mistake of having about 7 of them. ;>
