So...I went to www.clownz.com. I found the first letter of complaint
very funny... "Please do not take this personally; but the content of
your page is more than just an opinion--it is a complete display of
hatred toward the art of clowning." Does he not think this is an
opinion? Apparently an opinion is only so if it is mild...nothing
intense is an opinion, people. Keep that in mind, it seems an
important thing to know.

Erynn--I can understand wishing that Mikewhy would be able to post 3
times a day...but if the guy has any sort of life, this would be
impossible. It's not like he's paid to do the dent. Patience. :)
It's a busy time for Tori news.
Thanks for mentioning the new album...I'm waiting to read the article
until I can get my hands on the actual magazine.

I was kind of annoyed by the AP interview. I'm just sick of these
magazines sending people out to interview Tori who clearly just have no
understanding of her and think she's a "wacko." I mean, why was the
idea of an artist's salon such a wild and crazy way of life to him?
And why would dancing around whilst recording be unusual in any way?
She's a MUSICIAN! That's what we DO! grumblefrumbleguhfrumble.

Abbe - reading scripts is my joy. It's also the best way for this hearing-
impaired theater-goer to actually get more than my own surreal version of
what they might be saying. Although that's interesting too, sometimes.
(Care for some more boneless lesbian breaded rice, Mr. Ford? Or maybe one
of our famous fortypound hamburgers, or a fortypounder with cheese....)

Len, I blush to admit that when I read "The Real Thing" the other day, I
ended up saying, "Huh. That's interesting; there's a Tom Stoppard play I
don't like." It left me almost totally cold. Might be one of those things
where reading the script doesn't work, though. And I am very quirky when
it comes to romantic tragicomedy or whatevr the hell it's meant to
be. (Boring, I found it. But I cannot conclude the fault is in the
script. Hmm. Perhaps another approach. On the other hand, maybe I'll just
go find a bunch of Raul Julia movies instead. Yuu-*uuum*.)

Neil, you were in my dream last night, or actually this morning. Not the
first set of dreams, which explained a lot about the characters in this
damn thing I'm allegedly writing which I got strong friendly encouragement
from Emma on when I saw her last (she threatened me with a smile by
mentioning how long people waited for DOGLAND -- no, really, though, it
was very sweet of her, and I think it's helping), but the next dream after
I wrote that one down ("first water, then the fire") and went back to
bed. You were helpful in the dream, albeit a bit nonplussed. And you had a
nice black shiny car. It was good of you to stop, even for a few
minutes. I found it interesting that the policeman was reassured by a
British accent and went away. And the next time Juan and I buy a mansion,
I will make sure to write down the street address before leaving the
house. And I think the Norns will be OK, too. Anyhow, thanks.

(Memo to self: that's what you get when you have a bedtime snack of
chopped liver, sauerkraut, herring in wine sauce and tomato, and a
margarita that's too strong because your elbow slipped.)

Do dreams come into your writing process much, Neil? I have a vague
recollection of you talking about the subject once, so if I'm forgetting
something major, oops-sorry and all that.

Life in L.A.: I just found out a couple of hours ago that our high
school summer student helper is the daughter of Larry Wilson, who
co-wrote the Addams Family screenplay. She was in the movie as a teeny
little dancing flower. And the oddest thing is that *she* brought it
up, not me. Synchronicity? I think not. It’s that Neil Thing.

<lioness> LOL!!! I’m ever so relieved to hear that the Norns will be

E-mail from the long-lost Jouni:

Umm. Hello Neil and others. Five weeks have gone, and I'm back.

In that time the messages in this topic have gone from #614 to #1147 and I
don't think I have time or energy to read all those 533 messages right now
so I'll just start from HERE and read those later...

Hope I haven't missed anything TOO COOL. Perhaps someone could give me a
quick summary of what's been goin' on lately...

For me the past five weeks have been the toughest, greatest, weirdest,
happiest and most scary time of my life.

Haven't slept much either.

But it has been worth it. I think I've taken some giant leaps from the
'guy-who-has-a-baby' towards bein' a father. This developement naturally
includes countless changed diapers (I could throw in lectures about the
texture of baby-feces), hours and hours carryin' the child trying to get him
to sleep (when he obviously doesn't have ANY INTENTION to do so), tryin' to
dress the boy with clothes which designer obviously doesn't have any
experience/knowledge about babies or their anatomy etc...

....but as I said, when the little fellow looks at you and smiles, or sleeps
peacefully in your arms holding your finger tightly with his tiny hand, it
is worth it... it is worth anything and everything.

Uhh... (trying desperately to think something to link all this baby-rant
even remotely to the topic)

HA! Got it!

Neil - Since I'm quite soon in a situation where I start reading stories to
the child, could you give me/us a 'Neil Gaiman's top 10 (or five or
something) of books to read to a small child'?

Oh, and how's Dave progressing with the illustrations to the 'Wolves in the
Walls' and 'Coraline'?

Jouni (who has to translate 'the Day I Swapped My Dad to Two Goldfish' in to
finnish himself when the child gets a bit older... hmm 'Paiva jona vaihdoin
isani kahteen kultakalaan')

Jouni~ who could ... "throw in lectures about the
texture of baby-feces".

So could I, and the lovely toddler stuff, too.

One night about a year and a half ago, long after Rowan was put to
bed, Cam & I were innocently watching a movie snuggled quietly (at this
point all the parents groan, knowing that there's bound to be a catch)
on the couch...
Then there's Rowan, proudly standing there naked, having taken off his
jammies 'cause it was nakie time, climbed out of the crib, and come to
visit.
Leaning towards us, pointing proudly at his stomach, he announces
confidingly, "I have a penny in my belly."

Oh, great.

Hospital, x-rays, old home week with the doctor who had gone to school
with Cam.
Yep, there's the penny.
The doctor told us that if it didn't pass within a week, they'd have
to go in and take it out. And told us how to look for it.
So I sifted toddler poo for a week.
Of course it was in the very last diaper before the time limit, and
yes, we kept the penny...

Morning all,...
Well in my curent medicated state it's morning for me. Yes once again
I've lived up to my name,.....I've torn something in my knee, after
already injuring it. Nothing real serious, I did it at work so they're
paying whoch is a plus for a change. All not even a week before my
vacation. BUT,...I got to see Jimmy Buffet, which was a good thing.

I have thought about changing my name, and therefore maybe changing my
luck, but I like my name and I have the best good lucj, so the little
rotten things are just the trade off.

Let's see Mr. Punch didn't give me the clown heebie-jeebies, but the
violence in it always gives me nightmares. I've found that certin
unexpected moments in movies/tv/books can make me remember moments of
my past that are better buried.

Jouni~ I have a favorite children's book "Stella Luna" it's not a
classic but I've bought at leastt 14 of them for presents. It's tough
for me to find, but I'll see if I can dig one up to send, as it will be
harder for you to find.
As for the whole baby poo thing,...(caution this may be graphic) at
one point in time I was in MYC with Morgana/Rocky, who took me for
sushi (as living in the 'burbs tends to get pre-made ickky stuff) and
covinced me to try sea urchin. Well it got to the table and I couldn't
help but stare,...it was the same color as baby poo,...I later learned
that not only was it the same color but the same consistancy, and there
is no polite way to spit a big mouthful into a napkin quickly enough.
I think I babysat to much in my life.

Ummm, and does anyone know any bad effect from swallowing your
gum,...telling Gray a gum tree was going to grow in her stomach didn't
work.

Jinxie whho doesn't like t3's

Erynn--Oh, thank goodness you were kidding. Hopefully I would have
normally caught on to that, but I've been a bit tired...two jobs and
all. I went from working 16 hours a week to working 60. Its a bit
frightening for me.

Lesbian Rice--It should be the opposite of the word opinion...what do
you think the opposite would be? depinion? No, that's not it...help
me out here.

JaNell--I think its so horrible that people freak out about naked
baby/young children pictures. I mean, if there is something that is
obviously horrible going on in the pictures, it is one thing. If
you've got a child running around with no clothes on laughing like
children do, its another...They are just too young to feel ashamed, and
who wouldn't want to capture a moment like that?

Ugh. Baby poo online with breakfast real-time do NOT mix.

Jouni! Welcome back! If you got six hours of sleep last night, does
that mean that your wife didn't get any?

JaNell: I've been thinking that maybe Neil would meet you under the
white flag or something--like if, maybe you don't *exactly* ask it as a
question, so he doesn't *exactly* have to do the Artful Dodge--in
order to tell the Scary Trousers story. If not, I'll try. It won't be
the same, but the story kind of carries itself.

Mike: Finally got LHT, and I'm having a blast! (Although it did give
rise to some less-than-restful dreams.) BTW, when is DRAGON coming
out? I'm not finding it on an Amazon.com search. Is it being
published as part of the Orion series of Masterworks? (I'm being lazy
and asking, instead of trying to go back through 1000 posts to try to
find what Neil said.)
