Dan, that rocks. Major congratulations to you.

Miss Mousey--Awwwwwwwwww! She's so cute! Can I trade in my 2 old
and evil poopyheads for a new one? (Just kidding. Mostly.)

And yes, it is the students' job to freak me out. I didn't think they
were this subtle ;-)

Stagewalker--Congratulations!  That's so cool!

Guns don't kill people, *bullets* do.

Congrats, Dan! I forget -- Did you write this one, act in it, direct
it, or any/all of the above?

Can't wait to see Mouse's kitten, when I have time. Can't wait to
answer a lot of backlogged posts, too. ::sigh::

From the Journal:
<Sandman: Endless Nights comes out tomorrow (Wednesday). (Does a
little happy dance.)>

If I didn't know better, I'd think Neil was starting to talk like the
people in this thread.  <eg>

Congrats, Neil! Can't wait to pick one up Saturday. (Am I going to
be the only Wellpern there?)

Leaving tomorrow, and will probably be without Internet access through
Monday, once I leave work today. My mobile's the same as it was last
year, if I actually gave it to anyone (besides Neil) and they still
have it.

I've started seeing ads for this year's National Book Festival. I
doubt I will be going this time, but I probably ought to drop the
organizers a line anyway, innocently asking if there'll be fantasy or
SF booths.  <veg>

On a related note, the Nat'l Archives is re-opening Thursday after
renovations. Hope Neil has a chance to check it out while he's in
town.

Me, I'll be heading to higher ground. Hopefully not in the rain.

Dan, that's terrific. Well done. Well done indeed.

Tara, I would've looked up the usual suspects when I went to Chicago,
but I was on Well hiatus then (this was back in March). I will,
however, be returning in the not-too-distant future. So next time,
I'll hope (p.s.- those in Chicago, if you ever get the chance to see
Roger Clyne at Martyr's [or any other bar, for that matter], go.
Seriously. Just go. You will thank me, three days later, when you've
managed to pick your way out of that rocked-down house [come that, if
anyone, anywhere, gets the chance, go. I only say Chicago because he's
based in Tempe and seems to stick to... well, now I think about it,
there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to his tours. I saw him
in Philly about a year ago]).

I'm going to miss NYIBC. It's a shame, too. If I had known, ahead of
time, that Madeline Albright was signing there this evening, I
would've planned a few days off, taken a long weekend, hooked up with
some old friends. But alas, I didn't. I'm making up for it this
weekend, though. With *Underworld*, and a buddy's wedding party (and
next week's the bachelor party <grin>).

Aiee! Not yet caught up, but don't wanna miss Christy at [Smith]
Country! CHRISTY--I'm arriving in NYC on a train ~2pm Friday, and
connecting later with my othersweetie who's flying in ETA ~6pm--send me
a note with your cell #, I'll send you a note with mine, and maybe we
can figure something out?

The Short Version (copied from another file):
Packed 1.6 tons of books, which were loaded (with lots of other stuff)
onto a truck for Toronto (also packed personal luggage, which was
_not_ loaded onto truck <whew>;
With magian assistance, attended Tori Amos concert (whee!) until _way_
too late the night before leaving for Toronto;
Drove to Toronto via Corning Glass Museum and Niagara Falls (two
days);
Unpacked books in Toronto;
Ran NESFA Press sales operation for five days (35+ running feet of
display tables, ~70 titles, 20+ volunteer clerks on short shifts);
Was drafted to be Hugo Ceremonies "escort" helping winners to not trip
up steps to stage;
Poured champagne for 3+ hours at Hugo Losers Party (planned);
Repacked remaining books, which were loaded onto return truck;
Drove home via northern edge of Lake Ontario and Adirondack Park (two
days);
Started wading through accumulated email, and resuming client work;
Reconciled five days of NESFA Press sales paperwork (~$14,000 sales,
in two currencies);
Unloaded books from truck (~.9 ton returned), began unpacking;
Continued wading through email;
Drove down to oldest nephew's bar mitzvah ("Today I am a fountain
pen") in Philadelphia and returned;
Continued wading through email...

I think I'm mostly back now, but am still wading through email and
thinking about post comments. (Pam and Squeaks, I _so_ owe you email
about a Conversation and several subsequent conversations. Hang in
there; still wrapping my brain around stuff.)

More soon.

Well, we *are* all adults here. I didn't even blink, until you

Sorry to post twice in a row, but I just have to say:
I first heard of CDBaby two weeks ago, elsewhere on the Well. I
browsed a little, but put off buying anything, even though I was
looking forward to doing so.
Adriana's CDs are now the first I've purchased from them. I hope
those are the first of those lots.

*ahem*

I promise I'll be calmer now.

AAAAaaaaahhh!!!! Spoilers everywhere for _Endless Nights_!!!

(For those who don't want the pretty present opened for them until
they hold it in their own little hands, I don't recommend heading off
on linkage to even the CNN.com article.

However, having been unable to scroll down fast enough to avoid the
one image from the "Despair" story in something or other article...

Ye gods. The art is everything Neil promised it was.)

And L.A. Wellies: Happily, we should be able to pick up Neil's NPR
interview on Thursday on KPCC - Pasadena 89.3!!! (It says the show
runs from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm)

Okay.  Now I'll behave.

     *

(squeaks): Well, I *am* out of my mind quite often, so it's generally
fair hunting season.

Mary: Well, congrats, I think, on the Stepford kids. Even if it's
eerie, I'm glad that it's good. Fun with drama class is terrific!
But, eek! Albee? I first read Albee in college, and wasn't ready for
it. I'm gonna have to go with the management on that one.

DanW: CONGRATS with a side of guacamole to you! (Of course, I like a
side of guacamole. I don't know if you do, but it's meant well.)

(boswell): Enshrined?  Us?  *blush*

Christy: Happy trails. Hope you have lots of fun. And congrats to
Ben on his interview! This is turning out to be quite a week for web
exposure in our little "family".

Glen, re: Toronto - Play hard, win lots, if winning's part of it.

Davey: YAY!!! You're alive! And Tori and mega-sales and champagne
and Niagara! But I still think you work awfully hard for someone who's
not officially working a Con. And I'll be waiting for an email!

So, I'm not going back to work until the 22nd. Somehow I've been
scheduled today, tomorrow, Friday, and Sunday. *sigh. Today kind of
rather sucked. Ho hum. Welcome back.

So then James comes in to work and he's just been to the comic shop
and he shoves the Endless Nights in my face as if to say "HA HA!"
because he *knows* I haven't been to the shop yet (I've been working
all day). Then he hands me the latest issue of Busted (magazine put out
by the CBLDF) and asks me for an autograph. It's the worst picture
imaginable, but I'm pictured there on the same page as Will Eisner (and
Neil, duh), like I'm all important or 'somebody' or something. It's
weird.

So yeah, good week for 'family' exposure - like Pammikins said.

Adriana - SQUEEEE! I'm so excited for you!

And Lee's Comics in the bay area usually is rather smart in ordering
enough of anything with Neil's name on it. (and not just because of me)
If you have problems getting Endless Nights, try there.

I'd also like to continue to plug Lee's because it's my favourite
comic shop. They've always been VERY good to me. They're happy
supporters of the CBLDF (donating art when they can). And it's very
likely that in a few weeks time, they'll be my other employer. :) Wish
me luck - interview's on Friday.

-squeaks,
who must now tend to an insane kitten and a worn out boyfriend.

Thanks everyone! I'm still waiting for the times of the performances
next weekend, I know the dates.. but not the times... how the hell am I
supposed to do my Shameless Self Promotion? Argh.

I can't believe I'm about to go back into rehearsal in a week. This
week of rest has been sooo nice. But "Construction Caberet" opens at
the beginning of November and times a wastin'!

I saw "Truly, Madly, Deeply" for the first time last night and really
enjoyed it. It was odd, though... as I was watching it on several
levels at once... from an acting, a directing, a writing, and an
audience perspective. One of the nicer uses I've seen of magical
realism in film, and of course wonderful performances.

Adrianna, congratulations! I've been derelict on getting the CD, but
now I'm on the tail end of the wave and I'm a fool. I could have been
all "I knew them before they were in Forbes" but now I'm just another
poseur... I'll be ordering it along with the masses today.

Squeaks, you ARE all important and "somebody" .. well, at least to us.

I was in a comic shop yesterday, heading home from work, and looked
longingly at 1602...but I have an order with Dreamhaven to send me the
whole stack of issues when the run is done, and so there's no buying it
now. Ah well.. it'll be worth the wait, and I'll get to devour it in
one delicious gulp when it comes. I picked up an old Harley Quinn,
though... which was quite fun. Harley got killed and after being
expelled from hell for being too annoying, she started haunting the
Martian Manhunter and making his life miserable. I may have to find
some of the other back issues. Harley plays better than most villian
based books.

Adriana--Yay! Congratulations! Neil's so cool. I can't wait to hear
the new CD!

Christy--give Himself a big hug from the Unusuals. He usually comes
to Chicago Humanities Festival in October, but not this year, and we're
all sort of lost. So I'm going to watch Maure dye Tara's hair
tonight. Maybe we'll watch some of the Neverwhere commentary. <<sigh>>
<<looks pathetic>>

Will--it was me, actually, who's fussing at you. Definitely let us
know when you'll be here. And I'll keep an eye out for Roger Clyne.
Martyr's get some great gigs. And if I haven't already said this
enough, check out Janah. They are amazing. The website is
www.janah.org and their new CD is out November 7.

Yay! Davey! Welcome back. Sounds like you had *some* fun, even if
it was exhausting.

*Must* go grade papers now. Blecchh!
