February's Hitohiro seminar in Denver. UCAR Aikido was there! Loren, Patricia, Hitohiro, Paul and Steve.
Hitohiro Sensei is the son of Saito Sensei. I visited them both many times in Iwama, Japan. With Saito Sensei's passing away, Hitohiro Sensei has devoted himself to aikido. He frequently travels to Europe and America to give his not-to-be-missed seminars. I will post his visits to Denver and America as I hear of them.

  2001 UCAR Aikido dojo events
September 15th, our first white belt tests were held for Erik Kluzek, Aime' Fournier and Judith Berner. Taking advantage of sensei's unemployed status, they clocked in several private classes. All three started over a year ago with the original instructor at UCAR, and did very well indeed. That same day we had our first seminar, where the "jo" was introduced. Later, a party at Julie Caron's home nearby saw Steve Emmerson come by in his kilt, sensei in a zebra striped dress, and rain on the food. It was a great o'time.
December 7--Steve Emmerson took his 5th kyu test. He's the first to take the 5th of the group that started with Yarrow sensei. When he started he proclaimed himself to be an old guy of 50, not very flexible, and an impossible student. However, he goes to both Monday and Friday class, has become a bit more flexible, and his gung-ho attitude is as asset. His former karate days have guided him well especially while learning to roll, always a beginner's challenge.

September 21-23rd, SAITO SENSEI in Rohnert Park, California. Now known as the "Un-Saito Sensei Seminar" as the events of September 11th prevented his setting foot on any plane at that time. This was really a great event, bravely carried forward by Hans Goto sensei and everyone else who threw caution to the wind and came in.
