Patricia Yarrow

Yarrow Sensei in Japan.

Patricia Yarrow, UCAR aikido sensei from 2000-2005, started aikido in 1978 in Oakland, California and trained under Bruce Klickstein for 8 years. Afterwards, she trained with many of California's fine instructors and received her 3rd dan from Frank Doran Sensei before taking off for Japan. In 2001 she (and her little red purse) received her 4th dan from Bill Witt Sensei. She lived in Tokyo for some 6 years and trained with Hitohiro Sensei's Yoyogi Uehara aikido club in Tokyo and over many weekends with Saito Sensei in Iwama. In January 2001, she revived the UCAR aikido club in Boulder, Colorado.

She graduated in August 2005 with a MA in East Asian Languages and Civilizations (Japan) (EALC) at CU Boulder. Her website about Japan includes a page on the subject of her thesis, and a page about her current life as an English teacher on the very rural island of Awaji, near Kobe/Osaka, Japan.
