Poetry by Robbie Hatley
Most of the poems in this section I wrote during a dark time in my life, in the late 1990s, when I was going through what you might call a "midlife crisis". My purpose in writing these poems was to express the thoughts and emotions within myself, not to put myself forward as being a professional poet, which I am not. So if you don't like them, tough; go read something else.
- Mojave (This explains the title of my web site)
- Into The Great Mojave (About the shallowness of city life, and the purity of the Mojave Desert)
- A Flower In A Garden (a poem about endurance and perseverance)
- Together (a poem about togetherness)
- I Dream On The Name Of a Rose (a poem about thorns)
- Cybernetic Dreams (a poem about faith)
- 2000 Miles (About mental/emotional/spiritual bonding)
- The Church (expresses my viewpoint on organized religion)
- Trapped (about paranoia, jealousy, and fear)
- Arctic (a dark Love poem)
- Antarctic (a much darker love poem. Warning: explicit violent content.)
- Theft (a poem about child abuse, told from the viewpoint of an abused child)
- Corbitt The Cat (a funny poem about a little cat)
- The Shadow Descends (a poem about the massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado on Tuesday April 20, 1999)
