The International Steel Guitar Convention held each year in St. Louis, Missouri, is hosted by DeWitt "Scotty" Scott. Scotty is the author of a pedal steel tutorial published by Mel Bay and several other solo books. Scotty's Music carries a full line of instruction courses by many of the pros (including a Jerry Byrd course with two cassettes and 333 pages!) and a full line of accessories for the steel guitar. Scotty's Music, Inc. Mandolin Brothers is the largest US dealer of Dobro and National guitars, and one of the world's top guitar-oriented stores. They also feature many fine used instruments. Gruhn Guitars Bobbe Seymour's Steel Guitar Nashville is the world's largest steel guitar only store. Bobbe and Jeannie Seymour typically have over 55 new and used steel guitars in stock at any time. Tom Bradshaw's Pedal Steel Guitar Products has been donated to the support of the Steel Guitar Forum. Billy Cooper's Music, Inc. specializes in steel guitar stuff. According to John Tipka , "You name it for steel guitar and Billy and Wanda have it." Billy Cooper's Music Inc. Resophonic Outfitters is a supply company dedicated to providing resophonic guitar players and builders with parts and accessories. Their in-house luthier, Paul Beard, is discussed in the section on acoustic guitars. Resophonic Outfitters The Olde Town Picking Parlor in Arvada, CO (just outside of Denver) is quickly becoming the Dobro summit headquarters. Owner Kit Simon carries a large inventory of all kinds of acoustic instruments. He has hosted seminars featuring artists such as Cindy Cashdollar (from the band Asleep At The Wheel), and is planning on hosting regular monthly Dobro seminars if he gets enough of a response. Carter Steel Guitars manufactures and sells new Carter pedal steel guitars. They also sell used steels and new accessories for pedal steel guitar (seats, volume pedals, amps, cords, strings, bars, pickups, etc.) from their shop in Mesquite, Texas (just east of Dallas). Purchases may be made by coming in to the shop or by mail order. Repairs on nearly all brands of pedal steel and other steel guitars available also.
